THE OLD RUGGED CROSS On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross The emblem of suffering and shame. And I love that old cross Where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain. So I'll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay down And I'll cling to the old rugged cross And exchange it someday for a crown. To the old rugged cross I will ever be true. It's shame and reproach gladly bear. Then he'll call me someday To my home far away Where his glory forever I'll share. Precious Savior, what a powerful love You have shown us. Thank You for the glory of the cross and for the eternal purpose you accomplished there. Thank You for the way that You have opened heaven and for the privilege it is now to be called a child of God.
