THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY

Image
HURRICANE FAITH  As I was reading my Bible this morning, I notice some sermon notes I had put on the margin of my Bible from 9/4/2005.   A message my dearest had preached when he got back from a trip of helping after Hurricane Katrina.  The title of the message was called "Herricane  Faith". Hurricans are so devastating, people in the midst of them need something to hang on too.  This message gives 5 things you can bank on from God's Word. 1.  Focus on God's eternal presence.  ~ Duet. 31:8, I John 14;16 2.  Focus on God's eternal promises.  ~ II Sam. 22:31 3.  Focus on God's eternal power.      ~  Isa.26:4, Psm. 89:8 4   Focus on God's eternal purpose    ~  Jer.29:11, Rom 8:28 5   Focus on God's eternal hope        ~   Psm. 62:5 Dear Father, as we think of all the folks that have loss so much in the ...

ENJOYING A CLEAN BALCONY

Image
Last week we had a wind storm that played havoc with our balcony.  Leaves, dirt, and lots of dust.   I spent an hour or two this morning moving everything, washing down and cleaning all the planters, and the bookcase.  Added a few cloth napkins for a splash of fall color.   Another "Jack in the Bean Stalk" lily is about to bloom.  This will be my second one this year.  And of course, my metal chicken keeps watch. When I was cleaning the bookcase, I noticed I still have my "Easter Bunny Sign" out, so decided to just leave it till Spring and then I will hang it in a more prominent spot. Also baked a few loaves of Pumpkin Polka -dot bread to enjoy with coffee in the mornings.  Or in the afternoon with a cup of tea....or maybe a bedtime snack.  It's good anytime.  HaHa.

A SAD DAY AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE

An empty cookie jar.  That just doesn't happen here!! But with all that's been going on around here lately with my dearest....I just didn't get any cookies baked. But, I did have some candy corn and a chocolate bar...so they survived!  haha.  Matthew~ Grandpa ~ Issac Can't believe how much our son Myk and his dad are looking alike.  Must be the beards...HaHa

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY ~ TRUTH

Image
Isaiah 59:15-16  "Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes prey.  The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice.  He saw that there was not one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm worked salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him." O Jesus, our Savior, teach us to be like You.  Give us courage to speak up and step out on behalf of justice.  Help us to speak the truth in love, to right wrongs, heal wounds, and champion the cause of the dispossessed.  May we stand in Your righteousness to intervene and intercede for our own stumbling nation and a world in turmoil.  I love You.  Amen. googleimages.com Maranatha Worship Bible

FALL ~ COFFEE AND CANDLES

Image
For weeks I have only posted "Thoughts for Sunday."  So many other things taking my time, but yesterday I took a break and had a "Wanda" day.  A much needed pedicure in the morning, and then a little Fall shopping for some cloth napkins, and candles.  I bought several candles, "harvest festival" ~ "white pumpkin"  and the one in the picture, "pumpkin sugar."  The pumpkin pie dish is from the thrift store for a dollar. I sat on the couch this morning, with all the candles burning and the fragrance filling the room.  My orange coffee mug, with fresh brewed coffee with lots of real cream and only the peace the Lord can give when much is on your mind. I want to thank each and everyone of you that have prayed for my dearest.  It's been a long haul, but I do believe we are getting some clarification and answers now that we have seen the lung specialists.  Linda Shin, MD has taken Don's symptoms very seriously, and has ordered a ...

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY

TOO FAMILIAR?  The disciples walked and talked and ate with Jesus every day.  They were eye witnesses to his miracles.  The blind could see, the lame jumped with joy with their healing.  He fed the thousands on the hillside.  The disciples saw, heard and felt it all.  They became so familiar with his miracles they forgot who HE WAS. Shortly after the feeding of the thousands on the hillside, Jesus and his disciples got into a boat and Jesus said let's go to the other side.  It was night, and a terrible storm came up tossing the boat back and forth, wind howling, water coming in the boat, and Jesus was asleep on a mat.  The terrified men, ask Jesus if He cared that they die in the storm.  He calmed the storm with a word, and told his men how little faith they had.  They forgot WHO HE WAS!  God Almighty, Creator of the Universe.   Jesus said, as they started out in the boat they would go to the other...

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY

THE FRUIT OF PRAYER IS FAITH Isaiah 26:3  "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You." Faith is the attitude as well as the act of a soul surrendered to God.  His Word and His Spirit dwell in that soul. It is true that faith must exist in some form or another in order to bring forth praying.  But in its strongest form and in its greatest results, faith is the fruit of prayer. It is true that faith increases our ability and efficiency of prayer.  It is likewise true that prayer increases the ability and efficiency of faith. Prayer and faith work, act, and react together. Loving Father, I surrender my soul to You.  Guide me in Your truth and lead me in the way everlasting.  Teach me to pray believing, and strengthen my faith as I pray.  I know that my faith and my prayers work together and faith always pleases You.  I love You.  Amen  *The Power of Prayer E.M.
