WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

Image
It feels like an eternity ago that I was involved in a Women's Bible Study.  Covid-19 put so many things on HOLD.  Church, Bible Study, eating out, tolit paper...so many things.  But now months later some things are beginning to open up.  Our church is one of them.   So Tuesday morning, a group of women (that I have dearly missed) will begin a new study.  "Lies Women Believe".  I've already read several chapters in the book and completed my first lesson.  It is going to be a great study as many women who are not satisfied in their lives, their relationships, family, their looks, blame it on God.  The lessons reveal that we believe this, because we have a faulty view of God.  So looking forward to this study.    I'll share more about the study later. Sunday was such a good day.  We (as in my dearest) and I went to church and it's been such a long time it felt so good. To sing, and hear our Pastor in person, to see frie...

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY ~THE GARDEN

Image
A wonderful place to go, if only in your devotions and imagination is the Garden to walk and talk with Jesus.  I love this old Hymn because it pulls me from the caous of our world and the roar of the crowds to the quiet of the garden where I can walk and talk with the One who calls me His own! "I Come To The Garden Alone" I come to the garden alone While the dew is still on the roses And the voice I hear falling on my ear The Son of God discloses And He walks with me and He talks with me And He tells me I am His own And the joy we share as we tarry there None other has ever known He speaks and the sound of His voice Is so sweet the birds hush their singing And the melody that He gave to me Within my heart is ringing And He walks with me and He talks with me And He tells me I am His own And the joy we share as we tarry there None other has ever known And the joy we share as we tarry there None other has ever known Dear Heavenly Father, this old hymn is my prayer today.  ...

IT'S A NEW DAY!

Image
So glad it's a new day and my ordeal is over.  I thought it would be better to share three loaves of pumpkin bread with white chocolate and dark chocolate chips and walnuts than the pictures they showed me after my procedure. HaHa.   The last 8 oz of the 138 oz was the hardest.  I was gaging...but I got it down!!!  I know several of your were praying for me.  Thank You.  The "prep" is the hardest, the rest went so well.  They put me to sleep, and I woke up to graham crackers and cranberry juice.  Does it get any better!!!  Three small polyp's that will be sent to pathologhy, but every thing looked good.  I have an appointment in 2 weeks to get the results. I do have a family history of colon cancer; my dad and my brother. The weather is lovely today and we made a quick trip to the thrift store.  My dearest found some new speaker for his radio, and I found a cute white top. Been in the mood for potato soup, so have a pot ...

MY PUMPKIN MUG

Image
Do you bring out special mugs for the seasons?  This is one I found last year and it has a really nice feel to it.  It's large and the handle doesn't get hot in the microwave.  (I'm always warming up my coffee when it's not my morning cup.)  Morning cup gets gulped down...no time to cool off.  haha. I have a plant on the balcony I call my "beanstalk" as it grows to about three feet tall.  The leave are large, and you would expect a nice big flower, but when it blooms, it's just a wee little red bloom.  I feel bad for it.  I don't know the name of this plant, as it was given to me as a bulb at Christmas several years ago.  I did notice that a second little shoot is coming up behind this one.  It's fun to watch it grow like a bean stock over the weeks and then see that tiny bloom pop out!  Anyone know what kind of flower it is? I'm not looking forward to Wednesday ~ my colonstopy! Ugg.  Tomorrow clear liquids all day and t...

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY

Image
"Up from the ashes, Hope will arise Death is defeated, the King is alive. Hallelujah.  I will watch the darkness flee." Heavenly Father, where do we find hope when all we see is ashes.  The fires that have swept California and neighboring states have left many without homes and hope.  The words of this song talk about your death and ressurection, but like the ashes of the fire, Hope Will Arise, because you are in control and have not forgotten those who have suffered such great loss.  The hope comes from Your Word.  Your promises.  Your character and attributes.  You are a Holy God, and a giver of Hope to the Hopeless.  Thank you for the promise that you are with us, and will never leave us hopeless. I love You Amen Words to the song from a blogger friend.

A PEEK IN WANDA'S KITCHEN

Image
Every once in a while I get in the mood for a "Grandma Floy" dinner.  For several generations our family were farmers and meat and potato people.  No fancy gourmet meals but the basics!  Last night we had Old Fashioned Meatloaf, Scalloped Corn and peas.  Her menus included fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans.  Liver and onions and fried potatoes.  Pot roast with onions, carrots and potatoes.  Dad always had to have dessert and some of her favorites to make were, coconut cake, lemon maringe pie, double layer chocolate cake, bread pudding and lemon bars.   You can see I not only ate good growing up, but learned so much working with my mom in the kitchen as a younstger.  My mom loved her kitchen and so do I. Tried something new today.  I was cleaning out the refrigerator and found a carton of strawberries in the back hiding behind some leftovers.  They were really ripe and some had to go.  But I've been read...

SIX DOLLAR BARGAIN

Image
It's not often you find such a bargain!  We were at TJMaxx and my daughter spotted a jumpsuit on the rack.  I've always loved jumpsuits and this one was really cute.  We looked at the tag and couldn't believe our eyes.  $16.00, marked down to $8.00, marked down to $6.00. After a close inpection we found no flaws, stains or holes.  I think the problem with jumpsuits, it's not the easiest outfit when you need to use the restroom.   But it's part of the reality if you like jumpsuits like I do. This has been a better week.  The air quality is better, and my dearest has gone 19 days without a Metolazone which means we are keeping the retention of water at a good level.  Praise God.  He is feeling a lot better and doing a lot more around the house. Our church is back inside, and they will be starting a Women's Bible Study on Tuesday mornings starting in October.  I'm very excited as I have really missed the Bible Studies and my goo...

SMOKE and ASH

Image
This has been a very bad "air quality" week!!!  We are in no danger from the fires that are several miles away, but the effects of them, are making it hard to breathe if you are outside.  The smoke and ash from the fires is blowing into our area.  I took this picture from the car of the sun and it's hidden in smoke.  This was in the afternoon.  There are almost too many fires to count in California and other states.  We continually pray for friends who have been evacuated. The picture of my car doesn't show how deep the ash is.  The car is a deep jade green.  With the pandemic, and the fires it feels like we are living in a "Outer Limits" movie. I haven't been on the computer for the last week, so need to catch up on what is going on in your neck of the woods.

BLACKOUT DESSERT

Image
When you get a notice that there will be a rolling blackout because of the heat, and you are out of "sweets" in the house, you have a crisis!  Having a sweet tooth, and fairly creative, I made a refrigerator cheese cake.  No oven, no need for electricity, just a fork is necessary!  Hope you have a good Saturday.  We will be in the dark eating cheese cake.   HaHa!

THE SURPRISE!

Image
To my great surprise I see a brand new bright green cactus baby coming from the old ugly leprosy looking cactus.  Such a picture of how we view things.  All I could see at the beginning, was a large old ugly cactus, beyond beauty and use, ready to be chopped down. But that's not the way God sees things.  There is always "HOPE" and "NEW LIFE".  Out of the ugliness of the Old Rugged Cross came the hope of New Life.  I was going to use this for my Thoughts for Sunday, but it was just too good to wait!

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

Image
On my walk this morning, I experienced all three.  The good, the bad and the ugly.  Above is the "good" a tree filled with beautiful haning yellow blooms. And then a yard that has not been cared for or watered in a very long time.  Trash beginning to gather.  This was the "bad." The "ugly" was a large cactus that looks like it has leprosy.  A very sad picture indeed.  But as I was taking this picture, I saw something that totally surprised me!   It was amazing!  But that is a story for tomorrow. I used to walk around our complex. To get in my 45 minutes it took  five times around seeing exactly the same thing.  It became so boring I decided to ventured out in the neighborhood.  It's a lot more interesting.  New sights and sounds, and now I enjoy snapping pictures as I go.   Be sure to check back tomorrow for the surprise.
