CHANGES INSIDE AND OUT

Image
Click to Enlarge With Spring arriving, I wanted to lighten up our living room.  The couches are dark grey and taupe and needed something bright.  I decided on Goldenrod and Silver pillows, a new throw for the couch and some sunflowers for the coffee table.  I want to replace the rug under the coffee table, but haven't found the one I want.  Looking for a light grey or white.  The floors are dark, so the light rug will help brighten the room.  What do you think?   The change outside is new artificial turf on the playground.  It originally had a brick colored mat.  I love the new green.   This is a neighbor lady and her Shih Tzu, Cody.  He's 9 years old and Molly will be 13 July 30th.  They have become friends as we see them when we are taking our walks.   I see the caution tape was still up when I shot this picture.  Now it's all finished and the children are loving it.

A CHICKEN IN THE POT AND A LOT MORE....

Image
I've been just craving some chicken salad and not from "canned chicken".  I bought a plump whole chicken from the meat market around the corner and added some seasoning and rosemary.     One good dinner with carrots and potatoes and the rest will go into making my chicken salad. Chunked chicken, celery, dried cranberries, some mayo and seasoning.  Yes!  Just the taste I was craving.  Had it for lunch in a lettuce leaf.   A little package ready for mail to Tristan.  As you can see from the picture below the boy loves to wear pajamas.  When we go out to the store or Library he changes clothes...the minute we get home... off come the clothes and back on the pj's.  I found a couple of pairs at Target and he loves stripes and frogs.  Win~Win.  Also found another little stuffed toy for his "Pooh" collection and a Pooh book.   He's making his cinnamon rolls in his pajamas.  Then I introduced him to...

SCRIBBLE PICNIC ~ BOAT

Image
Click to enlarge The theme word this week is "BOAT"!  The first thought that went through my mind was a "Banana Boat" from a picture I had seen.  Since I do love banana's I think I could work on a Banana Boat in Peru. (Just kidding)  I like the next boat better.  HaHa   Now a Banana Boat in Peru is one thing, but a Banana Split Boat in California is my favorite! I'm really glad this new art co-op is "scribble picnic" and not "masterpiece picnic"...having so much much scribbling in my art journal. What kind of a boat comes to your mind?  Be sure and click on the Scribble Picnic on the side bar to see all the other "boats".

BELATED SAINT PATRICK DAY LUNCHEON

Image
One of the ladies in our complex wanted to do a traditional Saint Patrick Day luncheon for a group of the senior women.  The calendar filled up and so we had it on Monday, instead of Friday. The table was decorated so cute, and the food was delicious. Corn beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots.   Fresh mint tea, hot rolls.   These two ladies, Rosemary and Priscilla did all the work.  Rosemary did the cooking, and Priscilla was her right hand.   We had a drawing for a little gift. (a green bead necklace and earrings) and Lupia won it.  She is the little lady in the middle and just celebrated her 97th birthday.  She was so cute as she told us it was the first time in her life she had won anything.  Everyone was so glad her name was picked out of the bag. Since it was just for "women", Rosemary made sure Don got a plate.  He was one happy camper!!!

SCRIBBLE PICNIC ~ FAIRIES

Image
This week the word is "Fairies".  Several ideas came to my mind..The "Tooth Fairy", "Tinker Bell", a "Fairy Village" but decided on a pretty princess fairy with a bouquet of magic wands. I started with a pencil sketch and then decided to add some watercolor.  I like both! To see all the "Fairies" from the other artists please click on the Scribble Picnic ~ Fairies on the side bar.

SPRING TIME AT THE VILLA

Image
I wish I knew the names of these flowers I'm showing, but I don't.  I just enjoy the colors and fragrance as I walk along the paths.   I think this one is a hibiscus.   This is a close up of the bloom.  A lovely lavender. These line the pathway to the laundry room and parking lot.   They maintain the grounds so well, that you never see a weed.  Only lovely landscaping. Another kind of beauty!  This was the cake served at our March Birthday Party at the clubhouse.  A milk cake, with tons of whipped cream frosting and glazed strawberries.  Melts in your mouth! This is going to be a crazy week, so don't know how much blogging I will be doing.   One of the ladies here at the Villa is making a Belated Saint Patrick Day luncheon today at noon.  And I have already started the laundry. Tueday ~ Ugg...my last dental appointment...Hope it's not a root canal....No matter how hard I t...

A PRAYER FOR SUNDAY

Image
Exodus 23: 2 "Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong."..... Stand with me, Jesus, when I turn from the crowd and walk the lonely road.  When I break from the group because the group is going in the wrong direction let me know that You are near.  The easy way, the wrong way, if often crowded with a loud, enthusiastic throng whose excitement is contagious.  Your way is more often traveled alone, or so it seems.  But You, Lord, are with me.  You will never leave me or forsake me.  I am counting on Your Presence, Lord, even now.  I love You.  Amen. Matthew 7:13-14.  "Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life,, and only a few find it." I pray you have found the narrow way ~  Jesus said " I AM the WAY" Have a great Sunday and a great week! Prayer Taken fr...

ODDS AND ENDS

Image
Our grandson Marc is getting married July 1.  His bride to be loves succulents and gave me a start from her variety.  I think they look really cute in this small tin bucket.   Lunch with our daughter and sil at El Pescador.   I had the salmon lunch.  All this food for $10.99.  The salmon was pan seared just perfect!  Brought home half!  Delicious. Today was my cooking class at the Villa.  I made "Taco Salad" and a "half and half" cake.  I wanted to do something for Saint Patrick Day so made a white cake with green swirl, and frosted with half colored coconut and half plain for those who don't care for coconut. I was a delightful time and how nice to enjoy lunch after the class.  They watch ~ and they they eat.   Win~Win

BACK IN THE KITCHEN

Image
Getting back into the swing of things after my month in Oregon hasn't been easy.  I brought home a cold, and still working on getting over it!   I decided instead of corn beef and cabbage, I would make cabbage rolls.  They were really good.  One of the ladies at the Villa is going to make a luncheon on St. Patrick's Day of the traditional corn beef and cabbage, potatoes and carrots.  Can't wait!! Started a new Women's Bible Study ~ "Becoming a Titus 2 Woman" by Martha Peace.  I really like it! With this cold I haven't been around to visit all of you, but will be working to visit each of you in the next week.
