If there was ever a month I would not want to relive, it would be August! So much happened since my last post by the pool doing my knee exercises. Two days later my dearest was back in the hospital with more blood loss, tests and procedures. Thankfuly they found the reason and corrected the blood situation. However. the trauma of all that left him too weak to come home, so he was transfered to a Rehab Facility to work on getting his strength to a place he could do the stairs and come home. The picture above is my dearest getting some assistance from our grandson Elijah who is a RN and came to visited his grandpa.
The Rehab had a nice patio area and this was taken the day he was able to come home. The Rehab Facility had it's good, bad an ugly. The good was the Physical Therapist and how they were able to get my dearest walking on his own and doing stairs. The bad was three patients to a room with a flimsy curtian in between sharing one bathroom. Don was in the middle with the gentleman on the right had been there seven years partially paralized with a stroke, one the right, a man that one could only discribe as from the loony bin. Kept asking Don to get a car and take him home. Tried to escape twice. But the ugly was the food! I won't go into details, but he refused most of it, and lived on eggs and pudding. We took food a few times an he ate on the patio.
Meantime, "back at the ranch" HaHa I was tested positive for Covid and since my energy tanks were already at rock bottom it hit me with a fury. Bless my daughter Michel, she took me to her house and isolated me to the back bedroom and bath. She gave me my meds every two hours round the clock. I don't remember ever being so sick. But after 14 days with meds and sleep and chicken soup, I was doing much better.
Don and I both got to come home at the same time. Don will now have home nurse care 3xweek for the month of September. So I would never want to have another August like this past one, I'm excited for Fall and Michel has helped me put up a few decorations. There truly is NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
I want to thank you for all the love, concern and prayers and cards from all of you dear blog friend. Hopefully I'm back, and will be over to visit and catch up on each of you and what's going on in your lives.
