ASH WEDNESDAY
It was the Easter Season 1975. We were serving in a Baptist Church in Bell Gardens, CA. My dearest preached a sermon that changed the way I view the Easter Season from that day to this. The message was about the suffering and death of Jesus. I had heard many sermons on the subject, but my heart was ready to hear it in a more personal way. I could stop crying as I felt in my soul the suffering and pain of my Savior. When I got home, I spent some time in prayer and felt the need to show my love by spending some time in fasting and prayer. Since that time I have looked forward to Ash Wednesday. I like to spend a little time each day, either in reflection, study, meditation, prayer and sometimes fasting. There are many daily devotions for Lent, and now more and more Christians who do not attend a Catholic Church find that the observance of Lent to be a refreshing and renewing way to spend the Easter Season.
