MEMORY LANE
Today I was reading my friend's post at Maple Lane ..as she reflected about a family tradition of "Pickled Peaches". As I read it a memory I hadn't thought of for years came like it was yesterday. We were in the back yard. I was about 10 and my mother and aunts were preparing peaches for pickling. We were sitting with bowls of peaches in our laps carefully peeling them. Being young, and my first experience getting to be included with the "women" I was thrilled. Not being very good with a paring knife, I was cutting off more peach than peel. With a laugh and a smile, my mom said, "Wanda, if you keep peeling those peaches like that, we'll have "Pickled Pits". We all laughed, and if I remember, mom got me the potato peeler to finish the job. Childhood memories are precious. Makes me want a "Pickled Peach".
