HOT CROSS BUNS~ NO APRIL FOOL
It's been a really nice break for the month of March. I've enjoyed reading, baking, quilting, visiting with family and friends, a trip to the Zoo with the grand kids and a few walks through Desconso Gardens. But I'm back and excited to have a fresh start and outlook for my blogging. One of the things I wanted to do this year for Good Friday was make Hot Cross Buns from scratch! There is a video at Joy of Cooking.com that shows you each step and it made my challenge to make them so much easier. Finding that putting towels in the dryer and getting it nice and warm, is the perfect place to let your yeast dough rise if you don't have a warm place in your house. It was so fun to see mine turn out just like the ones in the video. They really taste good too. I didn't use the dried mixed citrus fruit, but used golden raisins and dried apricots instead. I really liked the flavor. I think I've just started a Good Friday ...
