THE PUMPKIN FARMER

Image
How fun when the pumpkin patch is in your back yard, and you are the farmer that grew them.  Tristan is that little farmer boy. We miss him so much, but the life he is having in Oregon, with the fishing, growing his own garden and pumpkins, this is a boys life!! That's one BIG pumpkin.  Hang on Tristan, don't drop it!!! A proud little farmer with his harvest!

PUMPKIN SCONES

Image
I found this recipe on facebook an it looked so good I decided to try it.  I was somewhat disappointed as they are much heavier than my scone recipe.  They taste good, but I will adjust the recipe to my liking next time.  It called for 3 cups of flour and that just made the scone to thick and dense.   I will cut the flour by a cup and add a little more sugar.  Not sweet enough for my taste buds. In the meantime, I'm sure they will vanish!  I found that a dab of butter and 15 seconds in the microwave was the trick for this batch! When I perfect it, I'll make a copy for my recipe book.

MY FALL WATERCOLORS

Image
The other day I was going through some things stored in the top of my closet, and found my Art Binder filled with my original watercolor cards from many years ago.  I never used the originals, but made copies of the cards in note sized and used and sold a lot back then. I think now, it's time to start sending out my originals.  Life is short and why not share the blessing and the joy I had painting these with friends and family. This is one of my favorites.  Fall leaves.  The colors and the way the paint just made up it's own mind.  That's what I love so much about watercolor...Sometimes it does what you  want, but more often than not, it does it's own thing.   DON'T YOU LOVE FALL !!

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY

Image
Oh blessed Interpreter!  Mighty with God, so that the heart of God is affected with the woes and griefs of men; mighty with men so that the great love of God, which is an ocean without bottom or shore is made intelligible to us!   ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) Oh wonderful, merciful Savior, I thank You for not giving me what my sins have deserved.  Instead of condemnation  I have received pardon.  Instead of banishment, I have been adopted.  I am in awe of the promise that Your mercies will never come to an end.  I will declare the hope of Your saving grace to the World.  I love You.  Amen

IT'S ALL IN A NAME

Image
Yes, I'm "Kind of a Big DILL".  This was the kitchen towels my son, Myk gave me the other night at our October Celebration.   The story behind it, my maiden name was "DILL". It was bad enough having the last name of Dill as many jokes about me being a "pickle" or "in a pickle" during grade school.  HaHa.   But on top of that I was a "red head" and I remember a little boy in third grade telling me "He'd rather be dead that red on the head".  It wasn't so funny in the third grade but have had lots of laughs telling the story when a grandchild faced being call a name at school.  I could relate! Have you every had a nick name you didn't like that "stuck"?

OCTOBER BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Image
October is the month of birthdays in our family, so my son, above, hosted a BBQ Birthday party to celebrate everyone's special day. After dinner, we had to see his new bike he has been working on.  The finished product is beautiful.  You may not be bike lovers like our son and his boys, but you have to appreciate the time and work he has put in on it to perfect it to his liking.  I ridden with him a few times, but at my age now, I'll just have the fun of sitting on it and getting my picture taken. Years ago when we lived in the high desert, and this boy of ours was just a tadpole, we had a little Suzuki 120 that we had a lot of fun with.  That was Myk's first ride on a bike, so I guess it stuck. HaHa It was so nice that Don was feeling good, and enjoyed the night out with the kids. We were both pretty tired this morning, so we watch church on line in our PJ's and a cup of coffee.  Nice relaxing Sunday.

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY

Image
In the first chapter of our Bible Study we discussed the lie we believe about God.  The list at first sounds harsh, but as we think of circumstance in our life, we would have to agree that at sometime we may have felt that way about one or more of these things. God is not really Good God doesn't love me God is just like my father God is not really enough God's ways are too restrictive God should fix my problems As I studies these statements, I realized early in my Christian walk I did believe these lies.  But because of His mercy and grace I was able to understand why I felt that way, and dispel the lie in light of God's Word, which is TRUTH. Lets take the first one: God is not really good.  Eve thought that when Satan put the doubt in her mind.  He told her God wasn't that good because he was holding something back for her that would taste good and make her wise like God.  How could a good God do that?  See the lie?   In 1989 our daughter ...

FALL SWEET FALL

Image
"Fall Sweet Fall" the message on my kitchen towel is so true of today.  The weather is "Fall".  Just the kind of day to put old fashion stew in the crock pot.  The house smells so good. I had lunch with my friend Linda at the Stonefire Grill.  They have seating in the patio with distancing.  It was so nice to see her again.  She is my "candle" lady, and has kept me supplied in candles for the last few years. Today is was "Crisp Apple and Pear".  Can't wait to light it in the morning with my coffee.  She also brought me the next three books in the series we have been reading. The Ladies Bible Study on Tuesday was really nice.  A good number of ladies were there. The  first lesson on Lies Women believe about God was very interesting. I will share some on my Thoughts for Sunday. GOOD NEWS!  My dearest has gone 42 days without the Matelozone (the power water pill)  August and September he was having to take one abo...

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY ~ PRAISE

Image
Sometimes amid the frustration, fear, chaos of our world, we need, of course, to pray for God to touch men's hearts and bring a sense of calm.  But what I found as I read the Scriptures this morning is, God calls us to Worship and Praise in the midst of darkness.   Listen to Psalm 150 and let it rise your heart and emotions above the cloud that hangs over our country.  Praise is a command from our Lord. Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary Praise Him in His mighty firmament. Praise Him for His might acts Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet Praise Him with the lute and harp, Praise Him with the timbrel and dance. Praise Him with the stringed instruments and flutes. Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath  Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Do you hear the noise?   Do you see the celebration?  Don't you want to join in?  Thi...
