GOT A MINUTE OR TWO

  Took a little trip to the Community Thrift store and came home with a couple of treasures.  This Fall platter is 10x13 and perfect for serving up some treats to my Tuesday morning Ladies Bible Study that starts in a couple weeks. I love the lacy pattern on this very small platter.  I can never resist a platter or a tray!!!   It's only 9" long but just so pretty.  Perhaps a slice of brie and a few strawberries would look perfect on it. When we moved into Villa Ramona a couple years ago, Willie (above) was the maintenance man for the complex.  A wonderful man and his little granddaughter was born with many physical issues.  She spent most of her first months in the hospital, have a bone marrow transplant, and two series of chemo. We prayed for her every day.  That's Willie's wife.   One year later, we were invited to share in her first birthday last Saturday.  She's doing so good, improving every day.  Sh...

I got my smile back, but not without some tense moments.  The bad tooth was not an easy one to remove.  Broke in several pieces.  You can see my medicated eyes and messy hair, but I'm a happy camper as she was able to get my partial with the new tooth to me the same afternoon.  Today I have not had any pain, just a tender socket which has to heal. Was anxious to get back to my kitchen, so made my dearest a Chicken Pot Pie for dinner.  The month of August was a break from the computer, and a book feast of reading.  Some Anne Tyler, Jeffrey Archer, my One Year Bible, and my Jesus Calling Devotional. Apart from my tooth troubles the reading, swimming in the pool and afternoon naps made August a good month. This is the first time in years I don't have up any Fall decorations.  Not sure if I'm going to or not.  We'll see how September treats me.  HaHa.

 Oh what a month of August.  It was truly good, bad and painful. The good was getting to spend time with our grandsons.   Lunch with Kaleb and Elijah before Kaleb heading back to college in Illinois.  Berry Cobbler was on the dessert menu.   Then Elijah decided he wanted to do a cooking class with his girlfriend, Allison and Grandma before she heads back east to college.  Berry cobbler was one they did.  And a great job I must say.  It was "hands on". Scone were also a hands on experiment and they turned out great.  What a fun evening. Cooking class this month was good too.  Chicken Salad recipe from my friend Kris was a big hit.  I will post the recipe soon since this is such a long post. The BAD was a call from Kaleb.  He had a knee injury at a scrimage football game when he got back to college.  Waiting to see what the MRI shows and how long he will be out of commission. THE PAINFU...

After a month of being "dog sit" by my cousin and her hubby we took a overnight trip to pick her up at Pismo Beach.  I think we woke her up...(She is a sleeper)     She did give me a kiss!  Our daughter Julie, and grandson Jon took the trip with us an we stopped for an ice cream in Solvang.   Before we left for home my cousin Danette and Mitch took us out to a wonderful dinner overlooking the ocean.  From there we went to Lompoc to spend the night with dear friends before heading home the next day.   John and Liz took us out to breakfast and what a meal.  The American Cafe, and little flags were on all our breakfasts. Julie and Jon taking a final look at the beach before heading home and back to LA traffic....but that's another story you don't want to hear?? That's the last trip of the summer!!!
