GOT A MINUTE OR TWO

Saturday morning, my dearest felt up to a trip to the Thrift Store.  We made out like bandits!! He found two pillows that make comfortable backs for our wicker dinning room chairs. I've been wanting a light weight quilt for the summer and found this one that matches my sheets (which are almost all blue). Sometimes I just don't want to use my Kitchen Aid to mix a small item, and had not replaced the old hand mixer that finally died.  I was more than surprised when I found this Hamilton Beach 3 speed mixer, brand new still in the box.  Also love little trays, and this pretty one jumped in my cart.    Brand new, still had the instructions in the box. I love little decretive soaps.  Different sizes, colors and shapes.  Can't believe I found a bag of little soaps in a basket of odds and ends.  Oops, forgot there was a mirror behind my jar of soaps.  Yep that me taking the picture. Tonight was an "Easy Peasy" dinner.  Roasted veggies on angel hair pasta.   This afternoon I sliced sweet onion, bell peppers, zucchini, and added 1 inch cubes of boneless chicken breast.  Put in a large plastic bag with virgin olive oil, strawberry vinaigrette, lots of different seasonings and fresh parsley and garlic salt.  Left it in the refrigerator until ready to put in oven. On a large cookie sheet lined with foil and sprayed with vegetable spray spread out all the veggies and chicken.   Bake at 400 degrees for 35 minutes until chicken and veggies were done.  Wonderful flavors! Easy clean up too! 

       First of all, I want to thank all of you for the wonderful words of congratulations on my dearest and my 59 years of love yesterday.    Yesterday, we just hung  out with each other, remembering memories and enjoying good food and coffee cake and a couple movies.   Today it was back to my chores.  Laundry was at the top of the list.  I ran down to the Laundry Room to add money to my card and the machine was not working.  Said to call this number...which I did, and was told they knew it was not working but had an overload of calls and would have someone out to fix it …….sometime!!    So my change of plans, is to sit back make a pot of coffee and "READ".  I've been wanted to check out the new "Touch Point Bible" I bought at the Thrift Store last week.  My dearest has been so impressed with it, but hasn't put it down long enough for me to see it...(just kidding) but he really loves it. June 24, 1961   "I give you my love forever.  For richer or poorer, in good times or bad, in sickness or health, till death due us part".   We said those words to each other 59 years ago and we have experienced those  vows.   In times of plenty and in really hard times.  We've laughed and cried.  We had heartache and tragedy.  We sat by a hospital bed after a horrific car accident when life and death hung in the balance for our youngest daughter when she was 18.  We enjoyed good health, and poor and the past couple of years faced it together as my dearest struggled to recover from a stroke and CHF.   But what a life.  I wouldn't change it.  I stood by his side as he preached Sunday after Sunday for over 50 years and we've watched our children grow up marry and been blessed with a dozen grandchildren.    I hope God grants us another year so we can celebrate "60" but that's in the Lord's han...

  It's hard to believe that our Molly Girl passed away a year ago.  If she had lived another month she would have turned 15.  We got her at six months and she shared three different homes with us and made friends everywhere she went. She loved us unconditionally, but also loved her toys and stuffed animals.  You can see I shared mine with her! She loved to give sweet kisses and we took her everywhere.  She loved to travel and was great in the car. She was at the vet in this picture to get her shots, and it looks like  she's saying to Don,  "Why are we here?  Let's go home.     This is the last picture we have of Molly.  We've had many pets over the years, and most were shared with our kids. Molly was just mine and Don's after all the kids were gone.  She loved me, but I have to say she was Don's girl...she adored him and he her. If the Lord grants us pets in heaven, Molly will be there!

Finally our Community Thrift store opened to the public.  I got their early, and the wait outside (6' apart) only took about 15 minutes to get inside.  It's the first time I've been in 4 months.  I didn't take my dearest, as I don't feel it safe for him yet.  He really wanted to check out the "gadget" section, but he will get to do that eventually. It was a good shopping day for me as I found several things I was looking for.  A small sauce pan, Stainless Steel "Cook" brand with see through lid.  I like that.  My kitchen timer has been acting up lately, so I found a new kitchen timer in the shape of an egg.  Really cute.  Also found a mug that says "Graduate" on the outside and around the lip the verse from Jeremiah 29:11 "For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord."   Our granddaughter just graduated from College and I'll use it to put her "money" gift inside. Always look for Bibles.  S...

  My blog friend Linda shared a picture of her "Willow Tree" girl praying, and I was reminded that I have numerous willow girls and they get hidden away in a bookshelf.  After seeing hers, I was inspired to put mine in places where I would see them every day. Since my dearest and I have our morning devotions at breakfast and say our prayers for the day, I put two of my little prayer warriors on the table to share in our devotions. Do you have any willow figurines?  I have a Willow Tree Nativity Set that I love, and I do have several other ones that have been gifted to me.  I hope to share some more from time to time.

I "WISH" I was laying on the sand with Jill and Lucky!  This is our youngest daughter living on the coast in Southern Oregon.  She is a reminder of my younger days as we are both redheads.  Only trouble my red faded to grey!  I think it's appropriate that Lucky is also a redhead.  I "WISH" I could see this view of the ocean.  As I've mentioned before we spent six years in Santa Barbara in the 70's where Jill was born.  The older three children were in school, so after I dropped them off, I would take Jill to the beach, sit in the sand and nurse her under my sweatshirt.  She heard the roar of the ocean from birth.  Interestingly, she has lived by the ocean all of her adult life.  First in near San Diego and then in Oregon. When all this craziness is over and we can go back to normal, one of the first places we will visit is Jill and the Ocean!

  This is the first time we have been out to lunch in 4 months.  Finally the little Mexican Café just down the street from us opened up for customers.  Our daughter, Michel came and after watching church on line, we decided it was time to get "Dad" out of the house! I chose the "Taco Salad" which was an excellent choice.  So big that I brought half of it home and finished it today for lunch. My dearest enjoyed the chips and salsa before his lunch was served.  It was such a fun Sunday lunch.  Only a few people spaced in the café and fun loud Mexican music.  I had to restrain myself from doing a little cha cha by our table...HaHa

As I read the devotion this morning in the Daily Bread, I was struck that Ezekiel had the answer for the wickedness in our country.  "But if a wicked person. . . does what is just and right, they will save their life."  God takes no pleasure in the death of anyone.  The Sovereign Lord declares, Repent and Live!  (Ezekiel 18:27) Only God can change a hard wicked heart of stone into a heart of flesh and good.  The last four months have driven us to our knees for our country.  Wickedness abounds and we see the sinful nature of man left to his own ideas and devices.  Oh how we need to see SIN for what it is and Repent...so we can LIVE. Dear Father God, You alone know what's in the heart of man and the wicked things that are being played out in our country.  We know you are Sovereign and You are in control and long to have us repent and turn back to God as a nation.  But Lord, it has to happen one heart at a time, so I pray and plead...

  With the days getting hotter, a cold glass of water filled with strawberries, lemon and cucumber is so refreshing.  Better for me than the pie my little chef is holding...HaHa. Pinto beans soaking.  Tomorrow I will make chili beans.  I made swiss steak the other night, and most of the meat was eaten but all that good sauce will make wonderful chili beans.  Just add a few more spices and chili. My dearest, has become the "Vegetable Evangelist".  Since we have been eating so many vegetables, raw and cooked he is feeling so much better, his coloring is good and he tells everyone he talks to..."Eat Your Veggies"   Preach it Pastor Don!  (Can you tell I need a haircut?)  I'm doing my own personal Bible Study in the book of John.  A few weeks ago I heard a wonderful sermon on line from Dr. John MacArthur on Peter and he used a passage in John.  Also using the MacArthur Study Bible and it's wonderful commentaries and...

Our youngest grandson, Tristan (7 next week) has been a fisherman since he could barely walk.  They live on the coast in Oregon and his little life is fishing.  His dad captures this shot last night and I think it's worthy recognition. Even though miss not getting to share his life on a daily basis living so far away, and now with all the restrictions in our country with the virus and the riots, not sure when we can see him in person. Our daughter, Jill is so good to send us pictures, and also we talk on the phone and facetime.

When my dearest was not looking, I got a shot of him sweeping the balcony.  You know he's getting stronger and more active when he gets the broom and heads to the balcony.  It's such a pleasant sight for me.  We are finally maintaining the fluids from CHF and if we weren't in lockdown...would take a trip to the Thrift Store. I have two lamp stands that take 3-way bulbs.  I can't find any store that sells them.  Everything are these new corkscrew bulbs.  What about us old folks who like our 3-way lamps.  HaHa.  Rant over!

All around the country riots, fires, ATM stations being blown up and cash stolen, stores looted, and what am I doing?  Making pasta salad and freezing strawberries. I titled this post "Feeling Helpless" as that's the emotion I was feeling this morning listing to the news on the radio and the reports on my face book.  It's not like there is anything I could do if I was in these places of extreme violence. But my dearest and I do pray.  All day long, and every time I see another act of total disrespect for even the Veterans Cemeteries that have been vandalized and crosses to honor destroyed. God you are getting our attention!  Help OUR COUNTRY TO LISTEN!  I'M SO GLAD NONE OF THIS SURPRISES YOU, BUT YOU WILL CAUSE IT TO ACCOMPLISH YOUR DEVINE PURPOSES.  Although we cannot understand.....I trust You!
