THOUGHTS FOR THANKSGIVING

Image
BLESS THE LORD OH MY SOUL AND ALL THAT IS WITHIN ME BLESS HIS HOLY NAME Children do not have any trouble being animated!   Lord give me a child's heart. Let me praise your Name with reckless abandonment!  Let me shout my Thanksgiving to You! Let me shout as the Psalmist did! Make a joyful SHOUT to the Lord,  all you lands. Serve the Lord with gladness Come before His presence with SINGING. Know that the Lord,  He is GOD. It is He who has made us,  and not we ourselves. We are HIS people and the sheep of HIS pasture. Enter into His gates with THANKSGIVING and into His courts with PRAISE. Be THANKFUL to Him, and Bless His Name for the Lord is Good His mercy is everlasting and His TRUTH endures to all generations! Psalm 100

FALL AND APPLE PIE

Image
Today is our Thanksgiving Dinner at the Clubhouse here at the Villa.  They supply the dinner an ask each resident to bring a pie.  Because pies take time, and not everyone camps in the kitchen like me, most of the pies are "store bought"  which is great, because most of them are really delicious. But I just can't buy one....I had apples so I will take a homemade one.  Here is the funny part.  When I walk in with the pie, Eric our maintenance man will come and take it and say "I will put it in the kitchen for safe keeping."  What he is really saying is "I'm going to hide it so I can have a piece."  HaHa.  My dearest said I better save him a piece too.  Maybe I should have made two. Are you getting ready for Thanks giving?  Since my daughters have taken the "baton", I get to enjoy their hard work, and all they want me to bring is my Refrigerator Cheesecake, and cranberry sauce.  Easy Peasy.  But I plan on making the cranber...

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY ~ WHAT'S IN YOUR MOUTH

Image
Everyone is familiar with the TV commercial "What's in your Wallet?"  As I was reading in Psalms the other day, the question to me was "What's in your mouth?" Psalm 126:2-3 "Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing.  Then they said among the nations,  the Lord has done great things for them.  The Lord has done great things for us." What is is my mouth ~ songs of praise and joyful laughter at what the Lord has done in my life? Zephaniah 3:13 says that "no deceitful tongue was found in their mouth".  Proverbs 4:24 warns us to "put away a deceitful mouth." Jesus said in Matthew 15:18a "The words you speak come from the heart".  That's the source of our joy ~.having a heart devoted to God. During this month of November, a time of Thanksgiving.  Lets put a guard on our mouth, that it be filled only with praise and laughter and joy as we think about all the great things...

PERSIMMON TIME

Image
I LOVE this time of year.  One of the reasons is my friend, Sy, at our church brings me bags of Persimmons each Fall.  Not everyone likes them in their natural form, but when they are cooked down, but in the blender and become "Persimmon Pulp" marvelous things can be made. I cooked down half of the bag he gave me and ended up with several cups of pulp. One cup went into my buttermilk persimmon bread.  Yummy.  It made one large loaf and another smaller one. I didn't add cinnamon or nutmeg to this batch because I just wanted the taste of the sweet persimmons.  I did add some white chocolate chips and of course "drizzled" the top! Next time I will make persimmon cookies.  And to those I will add some cinnamon and nutmeg to give them more of a "pumpkin" flavor.  Nuts and white chocolate chips to make them a nice crunchy cookie.  (I like texture, haha) Another nice feature of cooking up a batch, I have several cup sized cont...

THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY

Image
Oh Lord, why am I Thankful?  For more reasons than this page would hold!  But today, I am thankful for your MERCY.  What love could remember no wrongs I have done.  Omniscient, all knowing, You count not their sum.  You've thrown them into a sea without bottom or shore.  My sins they are many, Your mercy is more!  Praise your Name!  Your mercy is more.  Stronger than darkness, new every morn.  My sins they are many, but Your mercy is more!!!  That is why I praise you today and every day!!  I love you deeply and dearly because though my sins are many ~Your MERCY is more! Amen. *Some of the words are taken from the Song  "His Mercy is More." ~Matt Boswell, Matt Papa

HALLOWEEN FUN AND ODDS AND ENDS

Image
Meet "Inspector Good Heart" He's checking out that pumpkin to see if it has a good heart!  He looks for children with good hearts too.  I decided this year to have a little fun on Halloween.  Several weeks ago I had worn this "get up" to teach my Wednesday Night Kids Time about having a GOOD HEART.   There was a party at the Clubhouse so I showed up and no one recognized me ~I had a blast going around the room looking for "Good Hearts" and passing out the candy that filled my pockets. Two adults came in costume.  Me, and my friend Priscilla in the witch costume.  The other are the kids, and most of them are my "Cookie Kids" that ring my doorbell every day after school! My daughter Jill, gave me this great idea for appetizers  for Thanksgiving.  Peel a "Clementine" and stick a pretzel in the top.  Immediately you have a "little pumpkin".  Not only cute, but a healthy snack! Tristan's puppy, ...
