Love Letters ~ Watercolor by Wanda She was the daughter of an affluent Rancher. He was a dirt poor farmer. They met, and since they lived 100 miles apart, they began a friendship through letters. Over the next year they wrote, but as the months rolled on the friendship letters became love letters. The next time they met a year later, he proposed, she accepted. They married. That was my mom and dad. My sister and I had heard about the love letters over the years, but never had seen them. Mother was a private woman. After her passing as we were going through her things, we found the letters. The ones my dad sent mom were in pristine condition tied with a ribbon. The ones my mom had sent him, were tattered, worn, smudged and tied with a string. He must have carried them in his overhauls while plowing, and read them over and over again.
