A new week and a new theme ~ Jars
My first thought was a painting of my jars of jam I just finished last week, but decided to share a jar as a vase. I love using them that way. Do you?
The original Ball and Kerr canning jars are sometimes hard to find. When my dearest was in high school, he met Mrs. Kerr. She attended the same church he did, and gave him a ride to church several times. Very down to earth, very generous and caring. I love hearing how thoughtful she was too give him a ride when he didn't have a way to church.

DeleteHow delightful that Don met Mrs. Kerr. I always wondered whether the names were real. Love this watercolor. Jars make perfect vases, especially with the sun shining through them.
ReplyDeleteI love that story too. She was wealthy, and lived in No. Hollywood, but attended a little church in Tujunga, CA. She took a shine to Don.

I also have a painting I did some time ago with blue jars and spring flowers.
You took an old canning jar and turned it into a beauty, for sure! That is what artists do!
ReplyDeleteI loved the story of Mrs. Kerr. I don't think I shall ever forget it. She was like the old canning jar. When she allowed the Great Artist into her life she became a shining light for your dearest. This is an amazing story.

DeleteBeautiful painting, Wanda! I also think canning jars make great flower vases. Funny...my first consideration for the Picnic was to paint a jar of jam from the pantry but I ended up going with a more recent purchase instead. haha

DeleteOf course home made jam is really special too. 12 jars of plum. Kept some and gave a few away.

ReplyDeleteHi Jenny ~ So happy you came by from Cher. (Such a lovely lady) Watercolor has been passion for many years. Most of the time it was on the back burner, as we were involved in ministry for 50 years. Now retired with a dozen grandkids, Scribble Picnic gives me a chance to paint again.

This is so pretty... and I love the head of the rose resting on the edge of the jar. The whole image, I find, is very calming.
