SCRIBBLE PICNIC ~ CLASSIC

1957 Chevy Classic

I was a "50's" girl.  High School was 1956 -1959.  The movie "American Graffiti" had not been made...because we were living it!

Yes, I'm one of the "oldies"

I used permanent markers to fill in my penciled sketch.

Those were the days, my friend, thought they would never end.  Bobby socks and poodle skirts.  Dragging 10th Street in Modesto in what today are the "classic" cars.   Who would have thought??

To see what all the other artist chose as "Classic" just click on the Scribble Picnic Badge on my sidebar.

  1. I started first grade in 1959. LOL! But I've always loved the 50s. Your picture is great. My dad had a car like that.

  6. That's GREAT Wanda!!! :) I love your scribble and yes, that IS a classic!! :) One of my favourite tv shows was Happy Days...I was born in 1968, so really a child of the 70's and 80's...but I was always so pulled to the 50's generation and lifestyle. Great scribble!! :)

  8. The 57 Chevy was our family car when I was 9 years old. I loved that car and our family of 5 took a trip from Arkansas to Illinois, along with my aunt, uncle and cousin. All of us in that car. Unbelievable!!! Your sketch of it is really nice.

  12. Oh gosh, 57 Chevy's are TOTAL classics. In fact, we've been at TWO car shows here in Fort Collins this past week and it's so fun to look at all of the older cars. Well done, Wanda. :)

  14. Oh yes, so perfect, Wanda. I love it AND your wonderful memories form the period too. To me, it;s weird that it didn't occur to you that one day these cars would be classics. Isn't that funny? I saw some like these at the recent car shows. lo. But my favourite part of that era are all the other things you described. You grew up and came to age in a really wonderful time! luck you. You still have got it though, my dear. :) Thank you so much. Wonderful addition.

  15. Great classic car. I thought about doing the classic car my then boyfriend, now husband had when we were dating - a 65' Ford Mustang - but didn't have the guts. Mary, you've got but a few years on me but I love that era and all that you mentioned.
