SCRIBBLE PICNIC ~ PAJAMAS

The theme for this week is "PAJAMAS".   Jumping into PJ's after a long days work, or a hot bath, or just to be comfortable, PJ's are your ticket.  That is if you are a pajama junkie!

We all have our preferences and I have always preferred a gown over pj's.  Maybe it started when I was a little girl and my mom made the most lovely night gowns and robes for me.  There was always enough material left over to make my dolls a matching gown, and sometimes a pillow.

I did the same for my girls when they were little and know of one daughter that caught the gown bug and prefers them to pj's.

The little girl cuddling her teddy bear in her pretty flowered pajamas before crawling into a warm cozy bed was just something I pictured in my mind and tried to capture on my sketch pad.  I decided to leave the bed and covers in pen and ink to give emphasis to the theme.

Are you a pajama gal, or like me, do you prefer a gown.  btw, I don't especially like granny gowns, but prefer the "pretty"ones (with a little silk and lace) haha.

  1. I'm definitely a gown gal myself...the prettier the better. No granny gown for me either.
I really love your sketch and leaving the bed uncolored is perfect. Cuddly and cute.

    1. My heart broke when Olga deleted their long silk nightgowns. They were the best, fit perfect and were lovely. Really nice long gowns are hard to find.

  3. Oh I love it, I want to join the pajama party!! :) Your drawing is really sweet. Oh, the joy and comfort of pj's. Honestly Wanda, since I stopped working, I don't bother getting out of my pajamas most of the time...I only get dressed if I have to go shopping. In the winter it's polar fleece pj's with a big warm and comfy robe and slippers...in the summer it's flowy cool nightgowns. Cozy and cuddly is the most important! :)

    1. I love that you are a "seasonal" gal with your pj's and gowns...yes, I can clean house real good in a nightgown and have done so many times. Don't you love a flowy cool nightgown?

    2. I think I'm a sucker for white cotton nightgowns...though I kind of gave those up because inevitably whenever I wear white, I splash food on myself lol! :)

  7. In winter I like pjs. They are warmer. In summer I wear nightshirts. Really, I can do either anytime. I put on whatever is clean.

    1. Nightshirts have really come into their own....that's what most of my girls and granddaughters wear. Yes, clean is good...haha.

  8. I am a pj person, always have been. Probably because my mother was and she used to buy pj's for my sister and me. I probably should be a gown person because I am always pulling the legs up on my pj's because I don't like things rubbing on my legs ... oh well, a habit is a habit, be what it may :) Love your little girl and her teddy ... we all had a binky toy. Mine was a Dumbo and my sisters was a Panda ... how about you? A teddy, I am guessing. Great job, Wanda ... see you in two weeks :)

    1. Thanks Andrea ~ I've tried pj's and I have the same problem with the legs..
Growing up I was a baby doll lover. I was such a little momma and cared for those dolls endlessly. However, as an adult, I have a very special Teddy Bear on my bed given to my by my grandson Elijah when he was about 7. He is now 21. Back then he wrapped it up, and told me he was a big boy and I was old (haha) and I could have his Teddy bear. It's been on my bed ever since...and someday when he's married and has children, I will give it back.

  9. Aww, I loved reading your story about your mother making you gowns and robes. Also, making them for your doll and a pillow. I love how you carried that tradition on with your girls. You were such a good mother. I like your pajama girl sitting on the bed. You did a great job again. It seems like you can draw a picture in no time flat. That is a wonderful talent.

    1. Thanks Cher...I had such a good role model as a child. My mom was the best ever. She's been in heaven since 1991 and I still miss her so.
I love to draw, Cher...and have been doing it since I was small. Thanks for your kind words.

  10. I love your illustration, Wanda! I think leaving the bed not coloured was a spot-on idea. While it wasn't nightgowns, when I'd sew clothes for my daughter, I would often sew a matching set for her Cabbage Patch dolls. It made her so happy.

We are sub-tropical here so, most of the year, I wear a pair of 3/4 length cotton pants with a camisole style top. In winter, it's a long-sleeved T-shirt. That said, I have recently been wearing short-sleeved nighties — they are like T-shirts but the hem-line finishes just above the knee.

I love getting into my nightwear around 5pm....so relaxing! In winter, we have the occasional PJ day which I love!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week.

    2. I find it so interesting all the comments on pj's and gowns. Who would have thought this theme would have created so much conversation. I love....excuse me ~ gotta go get into my night gown...haha.

  11. Aw, she looks so comfy with her bear and bunny slippers. I always wore gowns until my kids were in high school. Went from long nightshirts to "soft" t-shirt weight cotton pajamas. The looser the better.

  13. wih a little silk and lace--too adorable, Wanda.

What a sweet illustration. It's such a girly girl set of p's --very much the thing my daughter would have worn, if not also wearing gowns I seem to recall. Thank you so much for doing it.

    "pajama junkie"--Hahah, I like that.

    -Um, no. :)
