WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING LATELY

Studying!  We are doing a study of the Minor Prophets in my Tuesday morning Women's Bible Study.  You know those little books in the middle of the Bible that get passed over more often that not.  "Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Johan, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi.  (Trying saying those names fast three times...haha)

When I study I like to use different commentaries and see what some of the Bible Scholars have to say, but mostly, I try to see how these books can be applied to my life in today's society.

It's amazing that each of these books share two things.  A warning, because the people of God had turned away and become worshiper of idols and doing evil in the sight of the Lord.  But after the warning, there is always a plea for repentance and forgiveness and blessing.

How true for our society today.  So much evil and corruption.  so much violence and pain.  So many warnings....The question, will we heed them.  Where does it start...with me.  I pray let me be a light in the darkness, a breath of fresh air in a stale and stagnate world, a ray of hope because I know the end of the story.  Do you?

  3. Oh sister your desk looks like mine! I am in the middle of returning from Nicaragua and preparing to go back for our big teaching conference to 80 pastors and their wives! I am studying feverishly as I seek what He has to say!!! Many prayers for you as you seek His heart as well.

  4. I agree about the world today, but is it just "today"? I think that as long as there are humans, there will be violence and hurt. The natural world isn't cruel and purposeful. I pray every morning and feed my spirit, in my own way, but yes, it does start with me. :)

  5. Yes, I know the end of the story, praise God! (Though actually, there is no complete end for any of us.)
