THOUGHTS FOR SUNDAY ~ Your Choice

Mark 8:34 "If people want to follow me, they must give up things they want.  They must be willing even to give up their lives to follow me."

On one side stands the crowd,
Jeering, Bating, Demanding.
On the other stands a peasant,
Swollen lips, Lumpy eye, Lofty promise.
One promises acceptance, the other a cross.
One offers flesh and flash, the other offers faith.
The crowd challenges, "Follow us and fit in,"
Jesus promises, "Follow me and stand out."
They promise to please, God promises to save.
God looks at you and ask, "Which will be your choice?"

Grace for the Moment ~ Max Lucado  (Nov. 18)

Dear Lord sometimes this seems like a hard choice.....but the closer I follow You, and the more I camp in Your WORD, the more I surrender my life completely to You, I want no other choice.  You own me, you paid the ultimate price for my salvation...what less can I do... I will follow You.  I love You, Amen.

    1. I found this daily devotional book by Max Lucado quite by chance in a Thrift Store...When I started reading the daily devotions, and realized it wasn't chance at all, but God's divine appointment for me to have it.

    1. I so appreciate your comments and your perspective from your life and experience. For me...It's very personal, it's a Love Letter to me, and I'm in love with the Author...so I read His love letter, and from cover to cover, I see His holiness, His justice, His love, and long suffering and so it's my manual for life and practice...Because of Jesus, and his life, death and resurrection, we are no longer under the Law, but now through Faith...we are under grace. But like you say..each has to decide how they handle the Word of God. Love you and your loving and generous spirit...you are the Best! I bet we could sit and talk for hours on this subject.

    2. Yes, got that angle. :) I am sure we'd all chat for hours...but preferably over some of your warmed baked goods, if you;d be so kind. :) You rally need to make a trip to Colorado one day instead of stuck in Cali! The weather is WAY better here, btw.

  6. Such a lovely post and so true. Wonderful to read this reminder that God's way is so very different from the worlds way. His way is offers so much more than what the world seems to offer which is empty and fleeting. Lovely to be back visiting you Wanda - I'm so glad I actually clicked on my blog reader and read through some of the lovely blogs I'm subscribed to. Blessings to you today.

  9. I always enjoy seeing what you share on Sunday, dear Wanda. I have never thought of being "owned" by God, but more belonging to God. Semantics, maybe. xo

    1. So true...the words could be interchangeable. I used "owned" because I was thinking of the "ransom" that was paid for my salvation. He paid my debt, therefor He is owner...but in the same way...Being the owner....I belong to Him....either way... I'm so glad I belong!!!! Thanks for your perspective...I love all the different comments..God did NOT made robots..but each of his children are unique. Love you!!

  10. I saw that the latest book is out but haven't gotten mine yet. I can't wait to read it.
That's quite a feast the the Villa puts on. So fun to be part of that. Love the sign for Molly and your pretty dayplanner.
Nice to pass the baton but I'm sure you are doing pies or something like that. Bread looks to die for.
I don't know what our Thanksgiving holds. Dave has really ben sick, I was ready to take him to emergency last night but he really slept quite well. It kind of acts like walking pneumonia. Everyone is suppose to come here for dinner Thanksgiving. Not sure how it will end up. I have the turkey. Prayers appreciated.
