DINNER AND PIE

Panko Crusted Tilapia, fresh asparagus and sweet potatoes.
One of our favorite meals.

Growing up we had chickens and always had plenty of eggs.  My mom would make egg custard pie often, and I loved it.  For some reason I seldom make it, but was just graving it last night.
However, mine doesn't look like my moms...haha.  For some reason, one side wanted to get done faster.  But it didn't hurt the taste any.  A piece for dinner, and this morning a piece for breakfast...Win~Win.

  1. Yummm, Dave's Mom made the very best custard pie. She had a friend that gave her fresh eggs. I have never made it. Maybe I should give it a try in my 2nd childhood.

    1. I truly think it's an "era" dish. But she also made great coconut cream and banana cream pies. She was the best..I miss her.

  2. Wanda, Funny how we sometimes crave some food from our childhoods. I miss my parents so much. If I think...I can hear them trying to get enough together to feed all my siblings and I. Some days were slim...and some days a feast, well in our eyes. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. We grew up similar to you Susie. Mom made the most simple dishes look great and taste good. I didn't know until I was an adult that those special Friday Night Soup and bread meals were because they didn't have "meat". I wouldn't change those days, and miss my parents too. It's been so many years...Dad (1968) and Mom (1991), Blessing to you too.

  3. I don't eat eggs anymore, but egg custard pie used to be one of my favorites. My ex-husband's grandmother would always make them just for me and her's were simply the best. :)

  6. We are heading back down to the ranch in the morning and, my goodness, there are lots and lots of eggs there! Perhaps I'll make a pie!
I love how you have such sweet memories of your parents. I want to be a sweet memory someday to my children.

    1. I love your ranch stories and pictures, and I'll bet you could make a delicious custard pie. I was so blessed to grow up in a loving Christian family...Not everything was good, but most of my memories are.

Oh Linda...you children and grandchildren and beyond will have a fabulous legacy from you and Louis Dean. The chains of the past can be broken....Love you tons.

Asparagus is my favourite vegetable but I still can't have it or any other veggie for a while. Grrr.
Aren't family food memories the best? Glad you have some good ones.
