COUNT DOWN TO CHRISTMAS

MONDAY ~ Had my annual checkup with the oncologist.  My appointment was confirmed by telephone.  I got to the office, and was surprised that the door was locked, and a different doctor's name was on the nameplate.  I went back to my car and called the office and said "I'm at my appointment, the door is locked and a strange name is on the door".  "Oh, I'm sorry, was the reply, we moved."   It wasn't just a couple doors down, but in a different town.  Since I only see the oncologists yearly....I'm finding a new one closer.

TUESDAY ~ Ladies Bible Study and Christmas Potluck.  Very nice!
Made my English Toffee this afternoon.  It turned out perfect.  This is my mom's recipe and a Christmas Tradition for our family.

WEDNESDAY ~ Getting my hair cut, and picking up the ingredients for the Chocolate Torte I'm making for Christmas Eve.

THURSDAY ~ The couple Don married last month are at Disneyland for their honeymoon.  On their way home they are stopping by and we're going to lunch at Geezers (where I had my birthday party).  Love that place.

FRIDAY ~ No sure yet??  Maybe clean house?

SATURDAY ~  Make the Torte, and spend Christmas Eve with our daughter Julie and her family.  A delicious dinner and play some games together.

SUNDAY ~ Christmas Breakfast with daughter Michel and her family, and then we will ALL gather at Myk's for a day of Christmas with family and food and fun.

MONDAY ~  GO ON A DIET!!!!!  HAHAHA

What does your count down look like???

  1. You are one busy lady!
How frustrating to get to your appointment and find him gone...Sounds like a new Doc is the best answer. My schedule...
Dentist this morning for a long visit as they put in my new permanent crown and hopefully finish this round.
Church this afternoon to prep and then serve dinner to about 450 volunteers again. It really is fun when we have friends working together. Then it's home to collaspe in a heap.
Thursday is gift wrapping, baking, general house cleaning and getting ready for Christmas.
Friday is more Christmas services with dinner prep etc.
Saturday...helping a bit in the am at church, dinner at our son's home for Christmas Eve, then attending (not working) the final Christmas eve program.
Christmas Day family is here for gifts, breakfast, dinner with friends coming over too, plus the family.
Monday...definitely diet and maybe just a pajama day...
    Merry Christmas.

    1. Miss Susie....you are such the energizer bunny. You get more done and still have time to serve. I want to be you when I grow up.

Merry Christmas dear friend. Give Dave a hug from me.

  2. Sounds busy! Have fun... I've put up my decorations and cleaned the flat. Buying some fruit & vegs tomorrow, then I think I'm just about ready to relax... Counting on a quiet Christmas this year (and rainy and windy weather expected).

    1. I really need to clean our house. I see areas and then I get busy and forget until I walk by again. Maybe the week after Christmas I'll get busy and do some deep cleaning. We had a welcome rain today.

  4. Yours sounds like a good week except for that first one. I'm just trying to stretch each day out so I'll have more time to spend with our daughter.

  5. Well golly that dr's office doesn't sound very competent. I think it is good to make a switch. =D

Your toffee looks so good. Wonder if I have the time to make some this year. My mother always made it at Christmastime.

    1. After the first of the year, I will find a new oncologist closer to home.

I love my mom's toffee. The family always looks forward to it at Christmas.

  6. They could have at least told you they'd moved! What a pain in the tuckus! I have kind of a similar story that I will share with you at some point. Very frustrating.
I just love toffee... what a nice tradition to have. Yum.
No Christmas prep for me this year. I finally go home on Friday and won't be doing much of anything for a while. It will be a very quiet Christmas for Suzie. Might visit my neighbours next door, but will otherwise be in my pjs taking it easy.

    1. Oh Suzanne, I'm so happy you get to finally go home. Enjoy a quiet Christmas in your jammies. I will include you in my thoughts while I celebrate with my family. Looks like we will have 20 or so...grandson Kaleb is home from College back East for Christmas, only missing Jill's sweet little family as they will celebrate in Oregon.
Sending love and cuddly hugs. Be warm and continue to heal.

  7. Every year I drool over your English toffee. It sounds divine. Someone gave me a box of caramels that a church was selling for Christmas. I limit myself to one a day because I could eat the whole box in one sitting. I think I am in love with brown sugar!

I am so sorry that your doctor moved without leaving his forwarding address. What a bummer! It is not easy to find another doctor. Around here it takes 3 months to get in. Of course, I live out here on the prairie. Be sure to take some English Toffee with you to sweeten him up a bit. :)

  8. How frustrating about the appointment.
We're just getting together at my sister-in-law's Christmas Eve for traditional soup. Sunday will be early service at our former church, then regular service where we attend now, followed by a simple dinner here. But next week! All my side will be here on Wednesday; the kids and grandkids will stay the rest of the week, and we'll have our "family Christmas" on New Year's weekend! I should probably start getting ready, you think?!
