CYCLE OF LIFE

This weekend was the celebration of two lives.  We celebrated Howard's life at his Memorial Service Saturday.  It was bittersweet as we will miss him so much but we rejoice that he is finished with pain and illness and now enjoying heaven.
But we also celebrated a NEW life this weekend as Howard's granddaughter will bring a new little boy into the world in January, Conner Howard.
We had a wonderful baby shower on Sunday, and little Connor Howard will know his Great Grandpa through the pictures, stories and love that will be share to him about his grandpa he never met personally.
Many lovely gifts were given with the theme of Noah's Ark and that will be the Nursery theme too.
The center pieces were all animals and it was a wonderful time to reflect on Howard's life, and now to welcome another little "Howard" into the world.

The cycle of life...we all are touch by it!

  2. Bittersweet moments for sure. In 1988, at the same time that my Mammaw was dying, my cousin had her firstborn, a baby girl. Truly the circle of life.

    1. I think this must be a common thing in families...The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away...Blessed be the name of the Lord.

  4. What a sweet blessing at such a time as this. I like how you said that your dear one is finished with pain and suffering...amen to that! It gives a reason to celebrate even as one grieves.

    1. His battle lasted over 6 years, and it was a 24/7 battle. Praise the Lord he is free.

  5. It is the cycle of life, isn't it? No matter how hard it is-people die and new family members are born into the clan. I think it is wonderful they are honoring him with the name. Our little SweetCheeks bears my middle name and I feel so honored that my daughter did that.

Hope you have a wonderful week...that shower was certainly a sweet life-affirming celebration to kick the week off. xo Diana

  9. What a precious, yet sad, time for you all. So wonderful that the baby will have the knowledge of his great grandfather through the photos, stories, and people who loved him. Love the Noah's Ark theme for a boy!!

  11. I love the circle of life idea. Reminds me of the "there is a time" passage in Ecclesiastes.
