This morning as I carried a load of laundry to the Laundry Room, I noticed a clump of dead leaves hanging in a most lovely green tree.

Upon on closer investigation saw the reason.  It had broken off from the branch and the source of life.

John 15:5-7 "I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers........If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you."

Object lessons are all around us if we will just notice.  I don't want to become a clump of dried leaves, ready for the trash....Lord help me to remain in the Vine, and be nourished by the life giving source.

We will be gone for the weekend as we're attending the Memorial Service for Don's cousin's husband.  Pray for a safe trip and that my dearest, who will be speaking at the Memorial service will bring comfort to the family and hope to those feeling this terrible loss.

I love our palm trees.  There are so many here in Southern CA.  These are in the Target parking lot!  Clouds, and a few needed sprinkles...but no big rain!!

Recently, when staying with my friend Sue, she gifted me a wonderful devotional book called "Flourish" ~~ a 52 week devotional with coloring pages.  I'm excited to use it, so picked up a new set of colored pencils the other day.

House will start smelling like Sunday soon as I have a pork roast, carrots and potatoes in the oven.  Oven dinners give me time to enjoy a few extra minutes on the computer.

How is your Tuesday?

Remember the song "Sunrise, Sunset"?   "Where is the little boy I carried".....It seems only yesterday that we saw Tristan for the first time in the hospital in Oregon.  Now he's big enough to wash the boat for a fishing trip.  Three and a half!!!

I'm glad to see our daughter and sil are teaching him a work ethic early on.

We Skype a lot and he knows Grandma and Grandpa via that wonderful techology.  The other day, he got on the phone with me and I ask if he was going to play out side.  "It's raining, Grandma" he said.  He sounded so grown up..."Sunrise, Sunset"  Turn around and they are in school, or graduating, or married......I'm thankful I've lived long enough to see those events with many of our grandchildren.

But Tristan is the "baby" and I hate to see him grow up so fast, especially when we are here and he is in Oregon.

Just a little reminiscing this morning...better go get a cup of coffee and check my To Do List!!!

* No matter what your circumstances may be, you can find Joy in My Presence.   On some days, Joy is generous strewn along your life-path, glistening in the sunlight.  On days like that, being content is as simple as breathing the next breath or taking the next step.  Other days are overcast and gloomy; you feel the strain of the journey, which seems endless.  Dull gray rocks greet your gaze and cause your feet to ache.  Yet Joy is still attainable.  Search for it as for hidden treasure.

Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.  Psalm 21:6

Dear Heavenly Father, giver of life and joy.  I pray today that I will have the same deep love for You whether I'm walking in sunlight, or trying to climb over rocks and boulders.  I will enjoy Your presence in the sunlight, and search for You in the dreary times like hidden treasure.  You have promised to be with me and keep me in ALL PLACES.  I love You.   Amen

*This passage is taken from the Devotional "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young.  Oct. 22.

Looking for rain, but just got tons of clouds!

A trip to Trader Joe's and this Fall bouquet found it's way into my cart!

Came home from vacation rested and with a desire to pull out some Fall decorations.  So glad I did.  The coffee station looks so inviting.
The flowers from Trader Joe's grace the table and a platter of cookies will go with me to Women's Bible Study tomorrow.
Made a huge crockpot of Taco Soup and we've been enjoying the leftovers with a salad and chips.

It's been a good Monday.  Molly got groomed, I mopped the floors and decorated the bathroom in fall colors too.  It's good to be back at the Tree House!

The Edgewood Golf and Country Club in Tahoe is something we had never visited.  We were given a  gift and told we needed to use it for dinner on our last night at Tahoe.
Our reservation was 5:30 pm and the sun was sending silver rays across the lake and into the elegant dinning room .
 Don had the filet mignon.
I had the Halibut.  As you can see served with class.  The food was beyond delicious and the waiters just delightful.

We watch a sunset and the fires were lit outside our window and the evening is one we will remember for a long time.  The waiter ask us what we were celebrating, and I said "We're still talking after 55 years" gave him a laugh!  HaHa.
We have had many trips to Tahoe, but this will be a memory we won't forget.  Our gracious God loves to use people in our lives to enrich us and enjoy things we wouldn't normally do.

Now we are off to Sue and Dave's in Rocklin for a few more fun days with my sweet blog friend and her hubby.

The flowers along the walk down town were lovely.  Splashes of color everywhere.

These metal sculptures and wind chimes were not only a great piece of art, but very musical.

Saw a couple of celebrities down town and tried to look like a mannequin.
The Hard Rock Casino and Hotel has some interesting d├ęcor.  This huge guitar is mounted outside and the interesting thing I noticed, the guitar strings are barbed wire.  Ouch!!

Even the entry doors are guitars.  Well that was our exercise today, a walk down town and get a few pictures.

Having a really restful and relaxing time.

Sue and I have been blog friends for many years.  Living fairly close to Tahoe they visit us when we have our time at the cabin.  She is a lovely gal and a sister in Christ.  Having trouble downloading pictures so will have to share her hubby later.

We took a day trip to Camp Richard and walked the grounds.  So many more pictures I will share later when I get the rest of my pictures downloaded.  The colors were fabulous, and made a perfect background for my dearest and me.

We came back to the cabin where I had potatoes and carrots cooling after cooking this morning I made a pot of soup.

Potato Soup, Garden Salad, and Crusty bread.  The four of us had a great time eating and visiting and taking more pictures of the lake!

What fun to share this place with friends.
More pictures hopefully tomorrow.  Thanks for coming along.

Fresh brewed coffee, cream and raw sugar, a pottery mug and a good book.

Today we had visitors.
Don took my picture tonight as I couldn't lay the book down.  I finished it a few minutes ago.
No lazy day tomorrow...a FUN day.  Sue and Dave are spending the day with us as they live fairly close.  Sue is a blog friend of many years, and you see her on my comments as "photowantabe"

We will take pictures and share our day together.

Friday night we had a marvelous time at my sister Donna's home with a delicious dinner she made and a visit with our nephew Scott and his wife Yvonne.  Wonderful family time.  Then Saturday morning a beautiful drive to our favorite spot, the cabin at Lake Tahoe.  The sun was shinning and we basked in it and got settled in.

The view from the bay window in the cabin is something we never tire of.

As we pulled into the parking lot at Raley's grocery store the Fall colors of reds, orange and yellow filled the lot.

Back at the cabin, groceries put away, and after a nice lunch, we noticed the weather beginning to change.  The wind came up, the white caps bigger and it looked like a storm was coming in!

Sure enough ~~ we could see it coming across the lake and wondered if we might get a dusting of snow.
And we did.  Don went outside a took a picture of our car and you can see the snow coming down.
This is the drive down to the cabin, and the snow by now had started to stick to the ground.

A few hours later, the storm lifted, the lake went back to a peaceful silver and the clouds began to rise.
The sun came out, and we enjoyed two seasons in the same day.   Fall and Winter.  Only in Tahoe!  HaHa.  We are loving our time and it's only the first day.  What will tomorrow hold.  I'll be sharing that soon.
