FLOWERS, BAKING, AND CLEAN SHEETS

After three days of baking for the Villa Ramona Fund Raiser Bake Sale I needed to sit down, put my feet up, and enjoy a fresh bouquet from Trader Joe's.

I really need to learn to say "NO" but it doesn't come easy for me.  As I've been a "Yes, I'd love too" person for way too many years.  My last "Yes, I'd love too" came as the Baker for our Bake Sale Fund Raiser for the Villa.

Since it seems I am the only one who bakes in the Villa, I said I would do the baking if they would supply all the ingredients.  Little did I know how many orders would be put in for Banana Bread, Cookies, and Scones

The Bake Sale Fund raiser was on Monday, so I spent Saturday, Sunday afternoon and Monday morning in the Kitchen!!!!!

Packaged, labeled and ready to take down to the Clubhouse was 15 loaves of banana bread, 20 dozen cookies (choc. chip, oatmeal, and peanut butter) and 4 plates of scones.

Monday night, when all was said and done, it sure felt good to crawl in between nice clean sheets.

The Villa has a Annual Fund Raiser for really good causes, but this is the first time they have had a Bake Sale as part of it...I guess the Lord brought us here for "just a time as this"....or was that Queen Esther....haha.  But that's another story.

Now you know why you haven't been visited for a few days!!

  2. You are a brave soul, Wanda.
I was craving scones last weekend and found some maple walnut ones at the farmer's market. I'll have to learn to do those myself if I want to be just like you.

    1. Actually my bread cooling rack is just an ordinary rack, I had it placed in one of my baskets trays (which I collect) with a towel in the bottom. I transport all kinds of things in my basket collections.

    1. Thanks Christine...it was a lot of work...but also rewarding to see the finished product and the folks that enjoyed purchasing it for the fund raiser.

  9. I admire you and your energy! However, I might want to add that I am having to state stock of my 'want to' level as opposed to my 'real time energy level!' You may need to do the same. This changing of the seasons in our lives is a little tricky as to how we have lived thus far!
That being said, GOOD for you and I am loving all the goodies you cranked out! Just wish I was close enough to you to actually enjoy them!!

    1. HaHa, first I had to laugh, as you can run circles around me, with a bandaged foot!...But I do hear you, I forget that I'm in the "winter season" of life, and need to stop and walk barefoot in the grass.
I wish we could sit with a slice of banana bread and a freshly brewed cup of coffee. That would be so nice,

  12. Wow! What a marathon. That would not be something I could say "yes" to, but I am impressed that you did! Maybe next year, you can request the ingredients AND a sous chef.

  13. Absolutely, Esther...I mean, Wanda. hahaha. Your baked goods looked wonderful and I'm sure it was a long time in the kitchen but all for a good cause. I'm going to Trader Joes this week...can't wait. It's a bit out of the way for me so I don't get there often. Lunch and shopping with a girlfriend...should be fun! Maybe I'll pick up a bouquet, too...but I usually come out of there with a plant. lol.
