CREATIVE TUESDAY ~ "Meet Me"

This was a fun Theme ~ "Meet Me".  If you have followed my blog for any length of time, you know I pitch my tent in the Kitchen!  HaHa.  So what better "Self Portrait" than me in my favorite spot.   Yes, I know my hair is a lot grayer, but when you're the artist, you can make some adjustments...HaHa.

I went back in the archives and found this portrait I did about 10 years ago.

When I was about 8 years old I received my first little tin box of watercolors and one brush.  Remember those?  I loved the feel of the watercolors on the paper, and never wanted crayons again.

Raising children, being a pastor's wife and working outside the home I really didn't have time to paint and pursue my passion for watercolors for many years.

Basically I'm self taught, through trial and error, but did take a couple of adult classes that really taught me some basics of color and technique.

Most of my first painting were note cards, which I have painted close to 100.  With the adult classes I pushed my envelope to paint larger paintings and enjoy hanging those in our home.

Thanks Michael for this theme so we can visit and get to know the other artists in Creative Tuesday.  Just click on the CT badge and visit all the others.

  1. DEar Wanda, this is so very you! well, both of them are actually. I can instantly tell those are you adn didn;t even catch the hair colour on the previous (older) panting until reading your note about it here. Too funny.

And yes indeed--the kitchen is where you make all the love happen..for your family, hubs and community. It is your narthex, as it were, where you conjure up wonderful things for meeting adn greeting those outside and insided. Love that.

These are both so well done too, I might add. You are one talented lady on so many accounts.

Yes, this has been fun! We really must do it again sometime...and I'm so glad you did for this go around. What a thrill. Love them both, as well as the right up too, of course. Thank you!

    1. In my rush to read the instructions for the theme, I thought it was more about "meet me" than my likes and dislikes. After I visited the others, I see I should have shared that instead of my history of an artist. There are not too many things I dislike. Dishonesty, and people who try to steal your joy. I like sugar, and all the things pastry and yeast bread with lots of real butter. I will read the next them slower......

  13. Wanda, you have certainly captured yourself with both paintings, but I think the latest one in the kitchen shows just how relaxed I imagine you to be when cooking.

  15. Wanda, you look so darling and sweet! And yes, as I told M, our "meet me" doesn't have to be perfect or on target, so to speak. It's for fun and to resemble us. hee hee :)
