PRAYING SCRIPTURE

Do you ever have a hard time finding the words to pray?  I love praying Scripture.  I'm reading through the One Year Bible again this year.  Did it several years ago and it was such a blessing.  In the OYB you read from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs every day.  Takes about 15-20 minutes.  And at the end of the year...you have read through the Bible.

Here is a sample of how I use the Scripture to pray.

Taken from Psalm 19.

Dear Lord, Your law is perfect, it revives my soul.  Your degrees are trustworthy, making me wise.  You commandments are right, bringing joy to my heart.

Your commands are clear, giving me insight to life.  How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?  Cleanse me from hidden faults.

Oh Lord, keep me from deliberate sins.  Don't let them control me.  Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.

May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.  I love you Amen.

Thanks again for all your visits and comments.  I try to respond to all your comments, so I hope you are checking back when you have time.  Have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks Sue...It's take the stress on how to pray. David in the Psalms is such a good teacher, and Paul in his letters has wonderful prayers.
      Hugs and love Dave's beard.

  6. I pray scriptures too! "May this mind be in me that is also in Christ Jesus."
I read the One Year Bible every few years. Louis Dean and I read it together not long ago. When my children were at home, we would all read it out loud, taking turns with the four parts. Everyone had their own copy so I have quite a few One Year Bibles!

  7. I have a couple One Year Bibles but I'm choosing to go through it more slowly this year. Well, it will probably take me two and a half years to get through. But I'm studying as I go. I like the idea of praying scripture.

    1. Time is not a factor. If we read for milage...we are not getting all God wants to say to us. You are a wise woman. I hope others will read your comment and be encouraged.

  8. I'm the Chaplain for a service club and start each monthly meeting with a devotional based on appropriate Scripture. I enjoy taking popular verses and looking at them from a different perspective. Purposeful prayer based on Scripture comes natural for a structured person like me. I really enjoy your writing.

  12. I attempted the OYB a few years back, but was not successful. I may try again.
I tend to read from all types of spiritual sources and various faiths, and then gradually gather my intentions from them. Have a blessed Sunday, Wanda.
