Berry Cobbler

Fresh brewed ice tea
A full cookie jar

A shady balcony

A new supply of my watercolor note cards.

Our daughter, Michel gave me a new Tote Bag with wheels to bring groceries upstairs.

My new "Belle" mug from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.  A gift from a dear friend.

A good supply of Sugar and Flour.  More cookies!!

It was fun today to walk around and be thankful for a few of my favorite things.  Sometimes the it's the small things, isn't it.  Count your blessings, name them one by one.......

This is what happens when you experiment with scones!  I had a carton of ripe blackberries I needed to use.  I was in the mood for scones, so put the blackberries and some pecan pieces in my scone recipe.

The result is "PURPLE"  scones.  They tasted delicious, in fact almost like cobbler, but the color purple in food should be limited to cabbage or beets...HaHa.

Nevertheless...they are disappearing one at a time!  Do you experiment with recipes??

When I called our daughter Saturday morning to see what she was up too, she said up to her eyeballs dipping chocolate.   She was making the dessert table for a little nephews baptism.  The theme was blue, and she was making for 50 guests.

I offered some helping hands and she said come on over!  We had a blast dipping, visiting, tasting, dipping, tasting.  HaHa  After a few hours with her and our granddaughter, Monique we had them finished and wrapped.

I'm holding a tray of marshmallows dipped in blue chocolate and individually wrapped and tied with a blue ribbon.  We dipped chocolate chip cookies in white chocolate and pretzel sticks in chocolate and then blue drizzle.

It was a great day!  I love hanging out with our kids, and being able to give a helping hand when needed.

I'm sure you all think I live at the Thrift Stores.  I don't, I'm just lucky when I go.  TeeHee.  This is a new jean jacket I found on Saturday.  You can't see the sparkles on the collar and yoke, but it gives it a little flair of "bling" and you know me....bling, bling, bling.

The label is "Joan Rivers" and I had no idea she had a line of clothes.  Have you ever seen anything with that label?

So with my basic black dress this morning, the jacket added a nice touch for Church.  We so enjoy the church we found and it's only 10 minutes away.  The music and the message were outstanding.

Hope you had a good Sunday.  This next week is already filled up ~~so much for the retirement life...HaHa.

Our warm weather turned chilly and the sky looked like rain all day.  Don wanted something hot, and I wanted to use up some leftover ham so made a Ham Broccoli Mac and Cheese Casserole.

You can click on the link for the recipe.

Today was running a few errands, mailing a Goodie Box to Kaleb at college in Illinois.  The last of the sugar cookies made it into his box.

I had to laugh this afternoon when the doorbell rang.  Two of my cookies boys, were hoping I had a few cookies left over from yesterday.  Enforcing a new rule is not easy....but I didn't weaken (HaHa) and reminded them that the sign was not out!  I could tell by their look, it was worth the try!!!  They had to test the rule, right?

Don said "Are you really out of cookies?"  Yes, for them I am.  They need to learn to appreciate "Cookie Day".  But for my dearest, there are still some chocolate chip in the cookie jar.

Have a great weekend.

A new cookie rule is in place at the Villa.  Because the children ask me every time they see me if I have cookies, I would be baking every day, and they would be getting way too much sugar.

Today I was in the mood to make sugar cookies.  Rounds, squares and stars.

The new "Cookie Rule".  When the little sign you see in the picture ~"Grandma's have the best cookies and hugs" is hanging on my can ring the bell.  There is cookies.  If the sign is not cookies.

Yesterday when I came into the complex after visiting Elizabeth, there were several boys waiting and asking when would the sign be out.   So today the sign will be out when they get home from school, and the treat will be stars, rounds and squares.

About 4 years ago, I found these really top quality large serving pieces at Sun Thrift in Sunland where we used to live.  I had needed some serving pieces as I don't have a formal set of silverware.

Today Don and I took a trip to the Thrift Shop we have found in Covina, near where we live now.   Going through a bin of kitchen utensils my eye caught this cake/pie server!  The picture makes the top look dark, but it isn't.  And YES ~ the same pattern as the serving spoons and fork I found years ago.  Funny, it was the only piece of silverware in the bin of utensils.  Go lucky day!

What is the chance??  I don't know, but I know I love completing this set of servers.

For several months I've had a plan for some new Spring/Summer bedding.  I've had my old comforters for years and wanted a change.  Looked on line for a white cotton duvet, and saw the price was more than I was willing to pay.  Then on a trip to Sun Thrift, I saw hanging in the back of the quilts and blankets, what looked like a white cotton duvet. I unfolded it, and spread it out as best I could and found the label.  It was a good brand and "Queen" size.  Had one mark which was dirt and I knew would come out with a washing.  Price $9.99.

Needless to say I was excited and strolled over to the sheet section, and found a "queen" white dust ruffle ~ Price $1.99.  Perfect condition.

This morning went to Walmart and found the blue floral sheets and pillowcases.  I wanted white or blue shams but they didn't have what I needed, so I bought "King" pillowcases and tied them with ribbon and like it even better.

I love it when a plan comes together, and I couldn't be happier with my new Spring/Summer look!

Sweet dreams, and a blessed Sunday.

Had a chance to visit a thrift store and found a set of six little plastic plates for snacks.

Jill gave me this cute little green bird as she knows I love birds.

While I was shopping at Grocery Outlet this little wooden Spring Bird hopped in my cart, and wanted a home on the kitchen sink by the hand soap.  How could I say no?

A new colorful set of knives with covers was a wonderful surprise from Don's cousin at our night with them.

Each of these are memories from a wonderful trip.  I didn't take a picture, but a large container of homemade spaghetti sauce is in the freezer from my cousins.  You gotta love cousins.

I'm about to get caught up, and will begin responding to your comments.  Thanks always for stopping by.

Talk about a "Throw back".....From the top of our heads to the bottom of our toes is just too hilarious.  And we thought we really looked cool!  HaHa.   I think that's our daughter, Julie in the car!  I will have to check with her.  She'll remember the year.  Must be the 80's.

We had breakfast at this darling Train Depot Restaurant Tuesday morning with our cousins in Fresno, CA.

I was so busy taking pictures of the walls that I forgot to get a picture of the best breakfast ever.  Sweet sausage and jack cheese omelet with hash browns and biscuits and gravy.

One wall in the dining area is so cute, but you will have to click on the picture to see the details.

Above our heads several trains were traveling around on a track.

Some antique train lanterns (I think?)

Several of these lanterns were hanging in different spots.

The cashier was the Ticket Agent....that's where we paid our bill.  How cute is that?

One wall has some local Fresno Down town murals.

The entire time we were there I was thinking I wish Betsy and her boys could have joined us.

We got home this afternoon.  Suitcases are unpacked, and bag of laundry to do tomorrow, and of course grocery shopping as the frig is empty. HaHa.  It was a marvelous trip.  I miss Tristan so, but home is home and I look forward to my own bed tonight.

Started our trip home and didn't get stopped once by the police for speeding... HaHa.  I asked Don to pull over so I could get a good picture of this old police car.  What year do you think?  50's?

There was also an old caboose at the same stop.  Been a long time since it saw a railroad track!

We stopped for a break and to let Molly have some exercise, and I spotted this flowering locust tree.  The smell of the blossoms  brought back a flood of childhood memories as we had two planted in our front yard.  They have thorns like a rose bush.  I remember mowing our lawn with an old push mower and smelling the sweetness of these flowers and the coolness of the grass because I loved mowing it barefoot.

I've loved the travels, but home is sounding better every day.
