WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE KITCHEN TODAY

The only time I like a messy kitchen is when I'm in the middle of making an apple pie.

This pie isn't as big as it appears.  I have two small Pyrex pie plates and it's perfect for my dearest and me.  Six little slices or 4 big ones.  It came out of the oven this afternoon, so we decided to have coffee and pie and maybe have a salad or snacks for dinner.
Good choice!

The new header is the plant I bought several weeks ago to attract the hummingbirds.  It's going crazy and I had to buy a little trellis because I realize now it's a climber!!!  Yes, I do have some hummingbirds checking it out.

  1. I have a plant like that and I haven't put a trellis behind it. I guess I should. I enjoy it so much. I think I also would enjoy some of that apple pie. Such a pretty pie! Your husband is a lucky guy! He knows that already, though.

    1. It's such a pretty plant I wanted to have it for my header. It's hard to find a small trellis, but I did find one at a nursery.
I must brag on the cook...(oh that's me) it was delicious.

  2. That is a beautiful pie! I love the crust....so pretty. I'm guessing the rest will be for breakfast....at least that's what I would do!

Beautiful climber for the humming birds! It will be so fun to sit out there on your balcony and hear them buzz in for some nectar!

    1. Thank you Betsy. That's my 3 apple pie. I had bought a bag of granny smith apples, and we ate most of them...but with only three left...a pie was a necessity. The crust did turn out good...really flaky. And yes, my dearest isn't much for pie for breakfast...too bad...I'll have to take care of that. haHa
The plant is better than I expected. I love it.

  6. You truly do have the prettiest blog around!!! I love how you decorate EVERYTHING - including your blog background!! I need to venture out and do mine more. Amber used to do mine for me and since I started doing it myself, well, I struggle with it!!!

    1. Thanks Linda. If you go to the left hand corner of my blog and click, it will take you to a site for free backgrounds. Today I checked by the color "red" since my flowers were red, and several popped up. I liked this one best.

Would love to visit over Apple Pie and coffee.

  8. Fresh new blog look - fun! That pie is screaming for some ice cream... and it's screaming for me too. Hope it doesn't get hoarse.

    1. The neighbors were complaining about all that screaming....HaHa. We didn't have any ice cream, so settled for a slice of cheddar cheese...that's my second choice with apple pie.

  9. That pie looks so good! Now I want to bake an apple pie -- but I don't have any apples. The hummingbird plant is lovely. I'm not really fond of climbers, but this one is pretty.

    1. Kathy, I bought the plant because there are rules in our complex about hanging bird feeders. So when I saw the bright red flowers...I thought this would be my solution for the hummingbirds. I think the trellis will make it manageable.

    1. It's a type of trumpet plant but has a name I can't pronounce. HaHa. The pie was good yesterday, and the piece I had for breakfast was good too.

    2. Let's do dessert First!!
Always too full for dessert after tasty meals.
Baking for you is a vacation.
I really wish I felt that way, though I'm better than I used to be.
Okay, now I am hungry for the goodies.
