SUMMER COLORS ~ WEEK 6

This is the last week of Summer Colors.  I'm very sorry I found it so late and only got in on two weeks.  But it's been a challenge to use just two colors.

This week it's ORANGE ~ORANGE ~BLUE

This is my version of the "Gerber Baby".  It's done in watercolor using Cadmium orange light, and Cadmium orange medium hue and Cerulean Blue.

When I was a child my father taught me this little poem and I've never forgotten it.  It seemed appropriate using the baby from Gerber Baby Food for my subject.
I'm sleepy, sleepy, sleepy
And I want to go to bed.
Had turkey for my dinner
And 'lasses on my bread.
My hands are sticky, sticky
My face is dirty too.
Here comes momma with the washrag
Boo hoo hoo!

I want to thank our host Kristen for a very fun two weeks for me.  Sorry I miss all the other summer weeks.  Maybe next year.

To see all the other participants for this last week using oranges and blue just click on the Color by Number Badge on my side bar, and thanks so much for visiting me.  I love responding your your comments so check back later.

  2. how awesome - and what a serendipity: i read the word "cerulean" twice today and never before in my life (though it seems to be the Expression for my favorite Color...)

    1. I have many volumes of journals, and most of my childhood memories are recorded. I hoping to have my children, next May when I turn 75, video me telling some of the stories of my childhood as it might be more fun for future generations to hear me tell them in person.

    1. The Gerber Baby is a drawing on the baby food, so easier to sketch than from a photograph. I do love to paint people.

    1. Thanks so much Dolly. That is a good suggestion to put the poem on the back of the painting. I have taught that little poem to my four children, and now to my grandchildren. I have many journals, as I love to write almost as much as painting. HaHa
