CHANGE OF PACE

It was cookie day, and time for a change.  I know the kids LOVE chocolate chip...but honestly ~~I'm so tired of making chocolate chip cookies I find myself making them in my sleep.

So today...a compromise ~ Oatmeal cookies, but I did throw in a few chocolate chips.

Oatmeal cookies are my favorite...so most of these are going in MY cookie jar.  HaHa

Wish you were here....we'd sit on the balcony, listen to the birds sing, and have a cookie or two.....or three.

  1. Throw in some dried cranberries and they are even better. :) You should try different recipes each week and when you don't want to try something new, you go with the old standby ... chocolate chip. HA! Best wishes, Tammy

    1. What a great idea. I have used dried cranberries but didn't have any in stock. I have done sugar cookies. Afraid to do peanut butter, as so many kids have allergies to nuts.

  2. I haven't had an oatmeal cookie in years and they are MY favorite! I used to use the recipe on the Quaker Oats box. What one do you use??

    1. Yep, the the recipe I use, I just cut the butter down to 1 1/2 cubes instead of two. The dough is a little stiffer, but they don't spread out and I like that, as you can see from the picture.

  3. You are such a great "Cookie Lady".
I think you will teach the kiddos to appreciate all kinds of cookies.
I would love to be there to have a cookie or two...or three with you.

    1. I think next time I'll add the dried cranberries.

The children in the complex bring me a lot of joy with their smiles and "thank you"

  5. I was just describing your tree house balcony to John. I'd love to join you for a cookie. Mama's favorite was oatmeal; they always remind me of her. Wishing you a very nice evening, Wanda.

  9. Yum! I love just a few butterscotch chips in my oatmeal cookies! Or raisins.

I baked cookies today, too! 5 dozen lemon sugar cookies. I'll send some to work with the mister and take some to the auction for my coworkers. We have new neighbors that I need to go meet, too, so I think they will get a dozen. So fun. It was a good day to bake here...rained all day and my jeep is in the shop!

    1. You know you are my role model. I bet the Mister's co-workers love when you send goodies. And how nice to take them to auction. You will make a friend when you take them to a new neighbor. I haven't been to your blog....do you have pictures??

  10. Yummy oatmeal - one of my favorites. I am climbing up the ladder to your treehouse right now!
You know what I was thinking? I know you love to give and expect nothing in return... but I was thinking it might be fun to ask the kids to draw something for you the next cookie day - only if they want to. Could be of a cookie, or them eating a cookie, or a sketch of you and your cookie sign. I bet you would get some very dear drawings and you might occasionally attach them to the cookie sign!

  11. My favorite too, when I was in the Air Force my Mom would make oatmeal raisin cookies and send them to me in a care package. I dont know how she got them to stay so moist and good.

    1. I did leave out the raisins. If they were not for the kids, I would have added some pecan pieces to the mix.
