HEADING HOME

Started our trip home and didn't get stopped once by the police for speeding... HaHa.  I asked Don to pull over so I could get a good picture of this old police car.  What year do you think?  50's?

There was also an old caboose at the same stop.  Been a long time since it saw a railroad track!

We stopped for a break and to let Molly have some exercise, and I spotted this flowering locust tree.  The smell of the blossoms  brought back a flood of childhood memories as we had two planted in our front yard.  They have thorns like a rose bush.  I remember mowing our lawn with an old push mower and smelling the sweetness of these flowers and the coolness of the grass because I loved mowing it barefoot.

I've loved the travels, but home is sounding better every day.

  1. You're so funny, Wanda. lol I love little red cabooses - reminds me of the one just down the road where I grew up. It was at the park and was placed there for kids to play on and dream away! :) Happy Sunday! xx

  2. Loved the pictures. There is a place in Lancaster County, PA called the Red Caboose Motel. It is a bunch of red caboose cars that are used as motel rooms. You can stay in a caboose overnight. That picture just reminded me of that.

    Have a safe trip home!

  3. Love that old Police car and caboose. I've never seen/smelled a locust bush before. I can imagine the fragrance did bring back lots of sweet memories. Wishing you safe travels. You are missed!

  4. I am the very same way! Thrilled and so excited to leave I can't even sleep the night before! Then when it's time to come home, I'm like a horse that can smell water and can't get back to the barn fast enough! I've enjoyed your Facebook pics!

  6. I love finding treasure like that alone side the road. Wouldn't it be fun to have an old police car parked out back so the kids could play?

  7. My boys would love that caboose on our yard! ha. I'd have to put beds in it because they would never leave!

Such a cute police car...much more charming than they are now!

    Safe travels!

  9. I love that old cop car, looks like something you would see in an old Bowery Boys movies. Isn't it neat to get a smell of something that transports you back in time? Usually to a specific event. The last thing I recall doing that was beef stroganoff, funny huh? I've ate it all my life, then one night while making it (hamburger helper) I just got this memory of a day care I used to go to before I even started school that had it for lunch sitting at the indoor picnic table they had for the little kids. I can still remember, remembering it.....strange huh? LOL.

  11. Love the car and caboose - fun to discover on the roadside. And I have never heard of a locust tree - only the insect. I will have to read up on it. Do you hear your bed calling to you? "Wanda... Wanda... Wanda..."
