EMBRACING CHANGE

Plan A ~ (Our Plan) New Years Day.  Sleep in.  Watch the Rose Parade.  Watch Football, Football and some more Football.  One thing I've been reflecting on is "embracing change" and letting God order my steps and plan my days in 2015.

Plan B ~ (God's Plan)  A phone call at 8:00 AM telling us Don's Sister in Law was in the hospital after having a heart attack the day before.  She was married to Don's brother that passed away years ago.  We called our daughter to see if we could drop off Molly and headed for the hospital.

After a short visit (she is doing good after a stint was put in) and the fact that they were able to get her to the hospital so quickly there is only a small amount of heart damage.  Today is her Birthday, 81.

On way back to our daughters to pick up Molly, I said, "Honey, Plan B was a lot better than Plan A.  We were able to visit with Bea for a few minutes, and visit withTed  for over an hour. (Bea's husband)   It was good as he needed to talk, and we were there to listen and give a word of encouragement".

We need to make plans, but as we do we need to be ready to embrace Plan B if the Lord gives us the opportunity.  I'm already loving this New Year.  How interesting my first chance to test embracing change came on New Years Day.

  1. Yes, God often has a plan B...or C..or even D for us. Life is so much better if we can see the good in His plan for us. I am sure you were a blessing for Ted. Happy New Year to you!

    1. You hate those kinds of phone calls, but it turned out to be a lovely visit. She is doing good, and Don an I were right where we needed to be on New Years Day.

    1. Yes, it is the same thing, but this year I'm embracing it rather than just going with the flow. HaHa. Report today is good, she is improving.

    1. HaHa Linda, I was out of bed and dress before I thought of getting a picture of my feet. But that's the way I sleep...under the covers...feet sticking out.

  8. Life is so much easier when we can go with the flow and deal with things as they come up rather than kicking and fighting along the way. Glad to hear your SIL is doing better and that you were able to provide encouragement to Ted. Sometimes just being a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear is more than enough. Best wishes, Tammy

    1. And ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on. Probably the best way to minister to someone hurting.

  9. Dear Wanda, This is very true; the Lord sometimes has plan "B" in mind for us and we must be ready to embrace and accept. I am glad that you were happy with the results.
I will keep your sister-in-law in my prayers.
Wishing you all the blessings for the New Year.

  10. You are absolutely right, Wanda... learning to embrace change is a challenge... but, I think when we learn to let go and "embrace" whatever comes our way there would be a lot of good come from that. Still workin' on it... t. ;)

  12. So glad Bea is doing better.
Embrace is a huge word. I think it's much easier to just go with the flow than to embrace it.
I think I am going to take that word as my word for this year. It will be a challenge because it involves action on my part. Thank you for showing me how to do it.
It's a new year and on to new things.

  13. Love the idea of embracing change as you embark on the new year's journey! I may have to borrow that from you too, since I'm one of those people that makes his "mental list" every morning, and then gets aggravated when things change unexpectedly. But you ARE right... God's plan B (or C, etc.) will always be better than my plan A!!
