CREATIVE TUESDAY ~ RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR

Be sure to click on picture to see it larger

The first theme for 2015 for Creative Tuesday is "Ringing in the New Year"
As I thought about this theme, the word "Ring" hit me and I realized I don't have to hear the "ring" of the alarm clock.  A ring I began to hate a few years before my retirement.

I had always thought I was a morning person, as I got up every morning for work at 5:30 or 6:00 AM.  After retirement I realized I was a morning person because I had too...not because I wanted to. Now, my choice of getting up time is mine.  I can roll out, or roll over.  I love my choices and I love not having that old Alarm Clock.

How you will you Ring in your New Year?

  2. The best thing about retirement for me is being able to get up when I want to!!

  3. Totally agree, although I now have it on for 7.15 am during the week, otherwise I feel that I am wasting part of the morning. This doesn't mean I get up at that time though!!

    Very clever header picture Wanda.

  5. Wanda, As I read about how you hated the alarm clock..I thought of my sister...she would hit the snooze alarm 3 times(10 minutes between each) I told her that was silly...she was having interrupted sleep. just to set the alarm for one more half hour of sleep. My feet hit the floor as soon as the alarm went off. I feel that getting up in the morning for work is the person's responsibility. It's funny how some make their mates get them up and if they are running late cause they can't get up, they blame that person trying to get them up. It's crazy. LOL. Now when I know I have something I have to be up early for, I can barely sleep. :):) here's to sleeping in dear Wanda. xoxo,Susie

  9. This is so cute! Ironically my hope for a HNY is to sleep in less and get more done, but, you deserve to relax, roll out and roll over (your pick), and enjoy retirement. love the colors and her beautiful sleepy face :-D

  11. I, too, Love having the choice as to when I get up. I retired last spring, but when the cancer treatments got the best of me my sleep patterns got totally messed up. I sleep better now, but find it sooo easy to roll out at 9.....it's winter, it's cold so it doesn't matter. When it warms up I make it a point to get up a hour earlier. LOL ENJOY and do what you wish!!!

    1. When I had my cancer journey in 2009, I had retired, and it's a good thing, because I was a lot more tired on a daily basis. I do get up early in the Summer.

  14. Oh, you lucky girl, you! Although, I must confess that my husband is the one to set the alarm and hear it...I never hear it so he kindly and gently wakes me up in the morning - it's lovely :)

    Hugs to you!

  17. That is a great interpretation of the them, Wanda. Fun and so apropos too. Love it. my, you do look rested and peaceful there, don't you? :)

I bet you are still relatively a morning person too, aren't you? I mean I can't imagine you stay up until midnight or later and get up after 9:00 am, right?!

As it is, I NEVER use an alarm and haven;t since high school days. I seem to be able to set my biological clock and get up in time, even if I wait to the last possible minute. :) As it is, I am lucky as usually I don't have to be at work at any specific time, like 7:30 am or 8:00.

You know, the only time I will use an alarm clock is for catching planes! :)

    1. Yes, Michael...I am a morning person...but it's what time I choose, and that's what makes it special. I am up early sometimes, and late on others...it's just a wonderful things to make the choice.
I don't have a biological alarm clock unless I'm going on a trip...then I'm too excited to sleep.

  18. That is such a wonderful thing not having to get up until you want to. I still have to get up early to help my son get off to school on time. I get up around 7:40. I'm not a morning person so it's always difficult. I envy people that can just jump out of bed eager to start the day at dawn.

  21. Wanda, I love these thoughts. I'm definitely not a morning person. My children and work friends knew not to speak to me before 9:00 am. Funny, I know. My son is not either and so we had an understanding, say, "I love you before leaving." My daughter on the other hand awoke singing every morning and so does my sister. Ugh, they loved to get on my nerves just by singing in my face:) Happy memories even at that.
