A VERY GOOD DAY

For years my colors of choice were browns, beige, tan and cremes.  It started way back when it was popular to find out if you were a Summer, Fall or Winter.  With my auburn hair and brown eyes I was declared a "Fall" and wore those colors.

But with Winter this year I was loving all the grays, charcoals and black.  Today at the Thrift Store I found a cute gray top with buttons and tie. (Forever 21 ~ $2.99)  A short sleeve black top with square neckline.  (Coldwater Creek ~ $1.99)  There were two John Grisham books I hadn't read, and can you believe I found both of them today for 50 cents each.  A very good day!

A few weeks ago I won a a giveaway from Monica in Sweden.  It was her 2015 Calendar with her photographs.  It came in the mail this week and is a delightful calendar with shots from her side of the world.

This is the picture for January ~ Isn't that too cute?  Yes,  a very good day.

My visit with Elizabeth was wonderful.  She had cassettes of Pipe Organ music and most of them are Hymns.  She was amazed that I knew the words to all of them.  We played a little game ~ We read a title, and then I sang it to her.  She did not grow up in Church so many of these are new to her.  When we got to "When the Roll is Called up Yonder" I said Elizabeth when the roll is called, we will be there together and she agreed we would."  You might remember that I had the opportunity some time back to share the Gospel with her at 97, and she responded and that made IT A VERY GOOD DAY.

    1. I look forward to each visit with her. Since we moved I can only do it once a month. I use to go weekly. She is so sharp it not like most of your visits to a nursing home.

  5. I love thrift store finds, and frequent them a lot. It is hard to pay full price for something, when you can get it for nearly nothing. Black seems to be the color that goes with my steel grey hair these days!

  7. You remind me a little bit of my own mom with your regular visits to see Elizabeth. Mom and Dad had a real heart for "older" folks. So wonderful that Elizabeth responded to the love, both yours and that of the Savior. Makes me wonder who was praying for her?
I never go in the thrift store without taking you along in my heart. And you know what? I get a discount at Savers on Tuesdays because I'm 50!

That's a good question...I wonder who was praying too for all those years.

    1. Elizabeth has become more than a friend, I think she fills the hole of missing my mom, as she treats me like a daughter she never had. (She has two sons)

  11. You found some great items at the thrift store! Love those clothes. I took one of those season quizzes years ago and found that I'm a "winter". I really believe in the right color close to your face makes you look better. some days I'll wear the wrong color and think I look under the weather.

  13. Love your new clothing finds! I'm a 'winter' in the color my world thing. Cool colors..no warm yellows or oranges. I don't adhere to it strictly, but I do look best in black, white and navy and I look like I have the flu if I wear yellow. haha.

    Beautiful calendar!

    1. My sister is a winter, and she says the same thing about yellow. Won't find her wearing it either. It's so fun to get calendars from different blog friends.

  14. Hymns are my favorite music, how nice you and Elizabeth enjoy them together. You found some nice clothes and books at bargain prices. With auburn hair I would guess green would be a color for you.

  15. Lovely that you and Elizabeth are so close. I have friends of all different ages and I so enjoy it. I am a redhead and wear all colours of the rainbow - I think everyone can but it just depends on the particular shade of that colour, I think.
