GETTING READY

A fresh brined turkey from Trader Joe's ~ Sweet potatoes and onions and all the rest of the fix'ins for the dressing.  Will bake a pan of cornbread to add to the dressing. I'm baking the turkey, making the dressing, gravy and sweet potatoes.  Michel will bring a Honey Smoked Ham and green beans.  Julie mashed potatoes dessert, Myk adding a new dish "Corn Chowder" and also dessert and rolls.  My mouth is already watering.

I'm very excited to have our first Thanksgiving at Villa Ramona and be able to use the Senior Lounge for our celebration.

Do you do "Traditional" menu, or do you add new things?

  1. Hello Wanda! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Your menu sounds delicious and I know you are thankful to be settled into your new tree house! Just the 2 of us this year and I am trying a new chicken/stuffing recipe in the slow cooker. God bless you, dear friend. Mildred

  3. Hi Wanda, Our dinner is basically the traditional style...but each one bringing something will bring what they make best. Some times it is nice to have something very different. Oh by the way, one of my daughters said she is bring pop-corn and toast, like on Charlie Brown cartoon. LOL. Blessings to you and all your loved ones this holiday. xoxo,Susie

  4. Our daughters are fixing the meal tomorrow. One is making pies, and some party mix, we all like to munch on between dinner and supper. One is doing all the rest of the meal, plus she even made some sauerkraut salad, Usually we stick with the traditional type Thanksgiving, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, pumpkin from my recipe one daughter said she would make mac and cheese, even though she won't be here for meal, but the Granddaughter will be. This daughter has to work a 12 hour shift at the hospital tomorrow. Another daughter and her husband are in New Orleans for a few days to celebrate their 25th. wedding anniversary. But Grandson may drive here to eat. So there will only be 7 of us, perhaps 8. Happy Thanksgiving to you, hubby and family.

  5. Good idea Wanda. We will have to try a Trader Joes turkey next year.

We are doing a pretty traditional dinner with the kids and grandkids.

And I decided that Snoopy and Woodstock needed to visit Kansas City, so I put them on my blog. :)

    Your meal sounds delicious.
I'm going to miss the smell of the turkey roasting in our oven but I'm happy to be going to Steves and having them doing the honors.
