SATURDAY SAGA

I didn't plan this Saturday Saga, but it was a first!  I wanted to make some Banana Muffins, and realized I didn't bring my muffin tins when we moved.  Must have given them to my daughter or sold them at the yard sale...but No muffin tins.  I needed some paper products from a well known store (I won't mention) but it starts with a "T".

I got to the store, got my cart and started filling it up.  Paper towel (hum ~ they seem higher than last trip) napkins, dishwasher packets, Swifters, (hum ~ these sure seem higher in price than I remember last time)  Oh yes, muffin tin ~ Yikes $18.99 ~ and nothing cheaper...Never!!

For the first time in my life ~ I retraced my steps and put everything back on the shelves, parked my empty cart at the door and left!!!  The security cameras, I'm sure wondered what I was doing.

Stopped at Food-4-Less and got everything for 1/2 the price.  In fact the muffin tin was less than $4.00.  (my old ones were from the Thrift Store for 75 cents.)

Is it just me, or are prices at our "Big Super Stores" getting higher?? BTW I felt a lot better after a cup of coffee and a banana muffin.

  1. Good for you for standing your ground. Maybe you can treat yourself to something else with the money saved. It was nice of you to return the items to their spots. I would have been tempted to just leave the cart and exit... in protest! Hee hee.

  2. Oh my, good for you putting it all back. The prices seem to be skyrocketing every day. think it's partially due to companies having to pay more for Obamacare and the crazy new minimum wage hikes. Something has got to give besides my pocketbook! Okay, rant over...love your soothing things with a cup of coffee and a banana muffin. Sounds delicious. Love you,

  5. EVERYTHING seems more expensive these days!! I am as frugal as I can be, though, and I am with you on that muffin pan!!! NO WAY I would pay that much!! Good for you in shopping around! Lots of people are buying even everyday items online. My oldest daughter told me that you can shop at the Dollar stores ONLINE and they offer FREE delivery!!! Imagine that......

  7. My husband is retired military and we shop at the base commissary. We were there last week for the first time in over a month and I definitely had sticker shock, would hate to be feeding a house full of kids.

  8. Good for you! to put the overpriced items back and find the same stuff for 1/2 price. I do a LOT of shopping at thrift stores and would have had a heart attack if I saw a muffin pan for $18.99. Nope, no muffins for me. Grocery shopping is one of my least favorte things to do. The muffins do look good, very good!

  13. I shop the sales at our local grocer, check the flea market before buying anything new, and pray for the rest of my "needs." Haven't bought paper towels for months and, yes, I do miss them. It doesn't look as if prices will be coming down anytime soon.

    1. I found the $ Store also has paper towel, just not the stronger ones that give you the option of sizes. I do use cloth towels and cloth napkins too. But like to have the paper ones around for cleanups.

  14. Yes I believe they are! I know which store you are talking about (probably) and they do run a bit higher on their groceries. Glad that you were able to find things for less somewhere else. Stores will keep charging those high prices as long as people pay it!
