THIS AND THAT TUESDAY

My visits with Elizabeth have been much fewer since we moved.  It was easy to visit once a week when we lived 20 minutes away, now with traffic it's more like an hour.  But today I decided to take care of a few errands on that side of town and make a day of it.  I arrived to see Elizabeth at lunch time, and the owner of the care facility insisted I have lunch with the gals, so I did.

The top left is my dear friend Elizabeth, who likes to introduce me as her adopted daughter, and that pleases me that she would feel that way.  I took a loaf of Banana Bread and in the picture to the right, she is enjoying a piece.  We share a "sweet tooth".

The bottom picture to the right are the other three ladies at the home.  Sylvia, Elsie and Ann.  They have become my friends and I enjoy my time with all of them.

One of my errands was to visit my old neighbor CiCi and see if I could barter some Banana Bread for lemons from her Meyer lemon tree.  As you can see ~ we made the deal!!

I've been looking for a cool cotton nightgown and found a cute one at Target. My last stop was my old Sun Thrift Store that I miss so much!!! Yes, I found just what I needed to match my grey striped skirt, and 30% off since it is Tuesday Senior Day.

All in all it was a really good Tuesday.

    1. Meyer lemons are so juicy, and I use them to bake blackberry lemon coffee cake, Lemon tart, and sliced and grilled with fish, in my ice tea, and if there are any left...hahaha. I like lemons.

    1. It was a great "Wanda" day. I'm real familiar with the 4 freeways I have to use to get to where we use to live, so I plan to do it at least once a month. Elizabeth was happy with that, and in the meantime I'll send notes and we'll talk on the phone. She looked better this time Betsy than she has the last couple of visits.

    1. I've known Elizabeth about 6 years now. When she was my neighbor, I only visited her at the fence, but when she had to live in a care facility, I really got to know her.

    1. It's always a delightful time at lunch. Sylvia the one in the yellow blouse, loves to recite poetry and sing...today it was Somewhere over the Rainbow and Hi Diddle Diddle. I adore visiting the elderly..I'm getting really close to being in that category...elderly. What age starts "elderly??"

  7. I was hoping you could still visit Elizabeth...so glad you can.
Making a day of it is perfect so you can still visit the neighborhood and your favorite Thrift store.
98 years...wow, I hope I look half as good when I am that age.

    1. I was thinking that very thing today. I want to look like Elizabeth at 98. She couldn't remember a name today, and was frustrated....I said, Elizabeth, I'm 20 years younger than you and I can't remember half the things I want to.

    1. Thanks Deb...since we moved, I decided to stop teasing my hair and using so much spray...I grew up with "Big" hair, and it was a hard change to make, but I like the new look too.

And your friends all look sweet. There are many days when I miss my mom so much, but for one reason or another, I try not to think about it too much.
I love a nice cotton nightgown.

    1. Now I have to decide what I want to make. For sure some "Arnold Palmer"...half lemonade/half ice tea. Really refreshing.
Slept in my new nightie last night...so cool and comfy. Visiting E. helps me in missing my mom.
