WHERE DID THE FIGS GO??

Do you recall when we moved in, I mentioned a lovely fig tree by the steps going up to our apartment.  It was just beginning to bear fruit, and I wondered if we would be allowed to pick them.  Well just when I thought they were getting ripe.....they were gone!!  No it wasn't me in the middle of the night in my nightgown, as some suggested.. HaHa.  They just disappeared.

I don't have a clue where they went.  One day they were there...the next day. poof...gone.  So not to be discouraged, I bought a carton of figs at Trader Joes.  I do love figs.  In fact so much I painted a plate of them some time ago and thought it was appropriate time to share my "Plate of Figs.

Do you like figs?

  3. Yes I do love figs. Dave can't eat them because of the tiny seeds that get stuck in his gut. More for me, I guess...
Love your watercolor and the pretty plate they are on.

    1. They do have a lot of those tiny seeds. Jill moved into town and she now has a lot of fruit trees including a fig.

  4. How mysterious that they all disappeared! Someone else must have been waiting for them, but it is a shame that they picked them all at once. Your painting of them is lovely though! xx

  5. Good Saturday Morn, Wanda. What a sweet painting. I do like figs; even more so, fig preserves! My parents had a large fig bush and mother would eat them right off the bush.

  9. I've still never had a fresh fig! I have no idea what they taste like. I think someone there had their eye on those figs and got them before you did! Obviously they are an experienced resident. haha.

    1. Oh Betsy..I think you would like them. Especially the big black ones when they are totally ripe. Does remind me of a strawberry and maybe kiwi.

  11. I'd blame racoons. We were visited by a coyote last night, in our back yard at that. He let out one howl -- what a noise! I thought he was up on the deck. Wonder if he will visit again tonight. We're watching Scruffy closely. Lovely painting.
