CREATIVE TUESDAY

The theme for Creative this week is "Bird Cage or Bird House".

I chose bird cage ~ a simple watercolor of an empty cage waiting for a little bird to move in ~~ seemed like an appropriate theme, since my dearest and I will be leaving our nest for a new one soon.  I'm hoping the touch of ivy will be a welcoming sign for the new residents.  Splashes of green, and a touch of ivy would make me feel welcome...How about you?

  1. I think this might be my favorite painting you've ever done! The cage is just beautiful and the ivy is such a lovely accent!

I picked up a large canvas at the auction. It has a gaudy painting on it but the canvas it's self is in great shape. And since it was free, I thought I'd bring it home and paint over it! I just might have to do something using your painting here for inspiration. It's even in the colors I was wanting for the wall in my dining room!

Thought about you as you've been packing. Hope you took a little break and enjoyed the weekend, too!

    1. I really like the simplicity of it. I have to confess, I'm not real good at birds, and didn't want to mess it up with a cockeyed bird. HaHa. You could add the bird for me.
The canvas sounds wonderful for a painting for your living room. Those grey's would be nice in your home.
I didn't pack this weekend...Monique and Eddie came over and we washed little vases for the favors and I wrote all the names for the tags on the vases to say which table you sit at. It was fun, an we are getting to know Eddie a lot better. A great young man. It's going to be a fun wedding.

  8. Hurrah, you found time to paint. And I am so very happy that you did, the bird cage is adorable and the ivy just perfect. It does have a very welcoming feel to it, like a snuggle, ready to wrap around the new occupant in a hug :D

    1. It's looking good Chris. We don't have to be out until Aug. so we have time for a yard sale, and a smooth transition. Thanks for your prayers.

  11. That is a very appropriate picture! I know how stressful moving can be. We all like to have our home situation "settled" and feel secure. When you move, it everything feels a little "unsettled". I hope this move goes well for you and is a distant memory in the future.

  14. Wanda, I agree that this one of your best yet. I love it. It;s so dainty and darling. Yes, totally welcome. Sure, if I was a bird, some ivy would make me feel very welcome indeed, no doubt. :) thank you for even finding the time to do this! this is great. Good luck with the move and all.

Oh, and btw, my son went south for a while but said on his way back he'd love to pick up some home baked cookies and meet you guys. :) We shall see.

P.S. I have no idea what Trader Joes is. A bird seed company? A winter clothing store? Or what? Obviously totally out of my paradigm as I've never heard of it and could not find it online either...unless it's coffee? LOL.

    1. MMm ~ I sent you a long email, and also a link for Trader Joe's...I think it's a CA thing...no sure. We have them all over California. I especially love their flowers. Beautiful and affordable.

  16. Such a gorgeous delicate bird cage Wanda, this is just adorable. The trailing ivy is a beautiful touch as well. I am battling with the ivy on my bottom fence which seems to have taken over!

  17. I love this! What lovely colours and everything "sits" just so. If I were a birdie, I would be heading straight there!

  18. I really love how delicate the leaves are with such a simple brush stroke - it must have been difficult to get all those lines in for the cage, I find I start to get dizzy with things like that :)
