It a good thing our son Myk and grandson Kaleb are big strong men!!

Julie brought Nick and Jon so we had many hands.
Grandpa supervised, whether they wanted it or not! HaHa
After a marathon moving day...we stopped and had a marathon meal at Applebees.
Closing down the computer now...will have Don's laptop, so I can see things but won't be posting until I get mine up and running.
Love you all!!!

This is the last batch of cookies that will cool on my washing machine.  I made them this afternoon so my son and grandsons will have cookies for energy in moving us up and down those stairs Tuesday.

These boxes and bins will be taken to the garage this evening, as the Realtor will be here at 10:30 AM to take pictures of the house for the brochure.  That's why the furniture is in place, pictures sill on the wall, and the milk glass in the hutch.
After they take their photo's, everything comes down from walls.  Everything behind doors is done.  There is nothing left in the kitchen cupboards, linen closets, drawers and closets.  The only think left to pack in the kitchen is what I used to make the final batch of cookies and the things I left on the table and counters to look nice for the pictures.

Tomorrow, I will shut down and pack my computer, so the next time I post, it will be from our new home at Villa Ramona.  My screen saver is a slide show, and when I snapped this photo, there was Grandpa and Tristan.
I cannot tell you how,  from the beginning of this move, God has work big miracles, and little miracles and everything in between.  What an awesome God we have, and it a good thing I'm his favorite (haha..just kidding)  but I feel like it, because he as worked out every detail of this move.
So until then.......loving you all.

June 24th, the big day...the truck will be here to move us in, and it's our 53rd Wedding Anniversary.  How cool is that!  A new home and a new year of love.  Today we took over a few items and did some measuring to see where we want to put things.  We are going to get in shape going up those stairs.  Not too bad ~ 6 steps and a landing, and then 8 steps...good exercise.

Don took my picture as I climbed the steps with our new keys to see what I can do to make it a ordinary apartment into "Our New Home".

Our porch light and our Apartment number.  The CC&R's does not allow a lot of decorations outside the front door.  They do allow it for Holidays.  So I will have to be creative inside, as you know how much I love to decorated everywhere!!

I took a little picnic lunch so we could have our first lunch on the balcony.
The view from the balcony is so lovely.  My dearest has claimed it as his own.
I wanted you gals to see the "plain ordinary apartment kitchen" BEFORE I make it into MY KITCHEN.   Give me a few weeks and I'll post another picture of the "Make Over".  I took over my little Percolator ~ Gotta have a coffee pot even if you haven't move in yet.
53 years of marriage and this is my first dishwasher!!  Would have been nice when we were raising four kids.  HaHa.  Again, it will be fun to show you the same shot when I get some of my special things set out.
This is the view of the living room and balcony from the kitchen.  I put my little "Home" sign and candles to make it feel like our home until I get our furniture in.
This is the walkway between the pool to the left and the laundry room on the right.  Straight ahead is the clubhouse and Resident Managers office.
The laundry room is spotless, and the machines and dryers very clean.  I really appreciate that. It's open 7 days a week, so laundry won't be a problem.
Chapter One is feeling pretty good!!

Even a Bride has to eat.  Before the wedding Monique's friend came over to do her make up.  But this little tiny gal wanted this big sandwich.  After having lunch, the make up for the bride.

Doesn't she look lovely.  Her friend did a great job.
Sunday afternoon Eddie and Monique opened their gifts and her dad made a wonderful BBQ.  Tristan enjoyed the party too.
They got so many lovely gifts, but I just picked one to share.

While I paced myself, and packed all my dresser drawers, I put some chicken thighs in the crock pot with some peach preserves, added some potatoes and red bell pepper, and steamed some broccoli.  Easy Peasy and tasted really good.
Taking a few boxes to the apartment tomorrow!!!

What a difference a day makes.   Wedding day, perfect health, full of life and vigor.   The day after, a lot of the family came down with horrible head colds, me included.  Tristan was sick, my dearest caught the bug.  Thanks goodness it came after the wedding

Wanted to give an update on our move.  After a ton of paper work, we were approved, signed the lease, and got the keys for our new apartment in the Senior Complex.  I don't have any personal pictures yet, but this is one of the pictures on the brochure of Villa Ramona.  It's a combination Senior and Family Complex.  That in one of the features I liked about it, as I don't want to feel like I'm in a "Rest Home"  HaHa..So the laughter of children and a mixed age residents really appealed to me.  Now I have to get over the cold, and get to back to packing, and have our Yard Sale.

More information and photos, but right now... I'm taking a Mucinex and a nap.  TaTa!!

The ceremony was beautiful.  My dearest looking so happy and sharp as he watched this granddaughter, Monique come down the rose peddle path to marry Eddie.  Issac and Matthew carried a sign that told "Uncle Eddie ~ Here comes your bride".  The first kiss as Mr. and Mrs.

In the dressing room before the ceremony we got a picture of the grandma's and Jill who came from Oregon to see her niece get married.
The reception was just a blast ~ The newlyweds with grandma and yes ~~ I did get out on the dance floor and had a few moves. HaHa..  And brave Jill to bring Tristan on his first flight to attend the wedding~ Loved his little Tux!

It was wonderful and I will share a few more pictures later!

The Wedding Week

This time next week, they will be Mr. and Mrs.  This is a fun and busy week.  Our daughter Jill and grandson Tristan are flying in from OR today, wedding rehearsal on Thursday and celebrate Tristan's 1st birthday, the wedding Saturday, and opening the gifts Sunday!!
What an exciting week.  Needed some kitchen therapy amid the business so made some apricot/cranberry, macadamia nut scones.  Sitting down now with a warm one and a cup of coffee.  Just what the doctor ordered.  HaHa

I may not be blogging every day this week...Wonder why??
Can't wait to share wedding pictures.

The theme for Creative this week is "Bird Cage or Bird House".

I chose bird cage ~ a simple watercolor of an empty cage waiting for a little bird to move in ~~ seemed like an appropriate theme, since my dearest and I will be leaving our nest for a new one soon.  I'm hoping the touch of ivy will be a welcoming sign for the new residents.  Splashes of green, and a touch of ivy would make me feel welcome...How about you?

To see all the bird houses and cages, just click on the CT badge on my sidebar.

Sometimes I like to go back to the prayers prayed by godly men of years gone by.  Such is my little book "A Diary of Private Prayer" by John Baillie  (1949 edition) This is my third one, as the opposite page is blank and I've used them for my Prayer Journal. There are daily prayers for morning and evening.  I loved and prayed these prayers for years.

The following prayer is an excerpt from "Seventh Day ~ Morning"

"O Lord and Maker of all things, from whose creative power the first light came forth, who didst look upon the world's first morning and see that it was good.  I praise Thee for this light that now streams through my windows to rouse me to the life of another day.
I praise Thee for the life that stirs within me.
I praise Thee for the bright and beautiful world into which I go
I praise Thee for the earth and sea, and sky, for scudding cloud and singing bird.
I praise Thee for work Thou hast given me to do
I praise Thee for all that thou hast given me to fill my leisure hours
I praise Thee for my friends.
I praise Thee for music and books and good company and all pure pleasures.
O Thou who Thyself art everlasting Mercy, give me a tender heart today towards all those to whom the morning light brings less joy than it brings to me.
Those in whom the pulse of life grows weak,
Those who must lie abed through all the sunny hours,
The blind, who are shut off from the light of day,
The overworked, who have no joy of leisure,
The unemployed, who have no joy of labour,
The bereaved, whose hearts and homes are desolate,
And grant Thy mercy on them all.
Let there be nothing within me to darken the brightness of the day.  Let the Spirit of Him whose life was the light of men rule within my heart till eventide.  Amen.
It may be long, and written in an English style we're unfamiliar with, but it speaks to  my heart big time.  I hope it speaks to yours too.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Our neighbor's cactus decided to see if the grass was greener on the other side of the fence.  A couple of years ago, she began to creep over the fence and grace our side.  Our neighbor ask if we wanted her to cut it back from our side, and we said NO, we love having her, especially when she blooms.
She doesn't bloom real often, but when she does...(like this morning) she really SHOWS OFF!!

I don't know the name of the cactus, but I know we will miss her when we move!

When the kids were still at home I would make a large roaster pan full of Swiss Steak.  It was a favorite.  After a hearty meal there was always a large amount of the sauce and little pieces of meat left.  The next day, I would use that as my base and cook up a crock pot of chili beans.  Add pinto beans and chili and they were the easiest chili beans ever and that sauce was perfect.

Last night I made Swiss steak an it was delicious.  Had just enough sauce left over to make my chili beans for tonight.   I love it when one recipe can make two completely different tastings dinners.  Perhaps now that the oven is fix...some cornbread will be added.

What's on your menu for tonight?

When you are moving, you come across things long put to rest in you memory bank.  So it was this morning as I was trying to organize and pack some of my art supplies.  In a pocket in my "portable art bag" I found the ribbons I won at the Stanislaus County Fair when we lived up North.  I was not interested in putting my paintings at the Fair.  Probably embarrassed because I've wandered through the exhibits in years past a marveled at the art work.  But I had several friends that wouldn't give up and insisted I at least put a few in.  I had just finished three so I took the plunge and entered them in the Senior 55+ Division.
Imagine the surprise and joy I felt when my friend called and told me she had just gone to the fair and all three of my paintings had one "first prize"  And my "Apple Blossom" had also a "Best of Show" ribbon.

My "Autumn Wolf" took first place in the animal division.

My "Girl in the White Dress" took first in the Portraits.
Never say Never ~ I would never have dreamed of getting a ribbon, and to get three and best of show is one of my personal joys and achievements.  It has given me confidence to try other things too as God is the giver of gifts and talents and we need to use them to bring HIM glory.
Wonder what else I'll find packing for this move!!

When our friend, Cliff put the new igniter in the oven, I ask him what his favorite cookie was ~ and I gave him a list, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Oatmeal raisin, Sugar cookies, Snickerdoodles.   He paused, thought a moment and said "White Chocolate Macadamia Nut".  HaHa...that wasn't on my list.  But being a honest man and good friend ~ I told him that is what he would get!!  (I've never made that kind ~ thus "first time cookies)

What happened the next day was funny ~~ here comes Cliff with a big can of Macadamia Nuts.   His wife told him on the way home, he should have just picked a cookie on my list....that macadamia nuts are expensive.  So Linda picked up a can at Costco and sent Cliff with my present.

This after noon my "first time cookies" went into the oven and I must say, they did turn out nice and tasted delicious.  Guess they are now on my official cookie list.  Thanks for the big can, Linda.

Hope you enjoy them Cliff ~ I'm sure enjoying having my oven fixed.

I ran out of gas today ~ and I wasn't even driving a car.  I think the packing finally caught up with me. ~ My brain can't think of anything write or clever to share, so I'll share a favorite card I received for my Birthday last month.

This is what happens to me all the time..  those silly hearing aids!!!!  HaHa

Going to bed real early tonight...recharge my batteries and be ready for some more packing tomorrow.
