WEDNESDAY STUFF

Remember a couple of weeks ago when my oven wouldn't work and I tried cookies on the BBQ and got hockey pucks?  Well shortly after that it started working perfectly, but decided we better have the Gas Co. come out and check it for safety.  We were given a window yesterday from 7 AM to 8 PM, so I stayed home all day, and he showed up at 7:22 PM.  (I got a lot of housework done) Looks like the ligniter is going out so can't use the oven until we get it fixed.  Which is OK as we are leaving to attend my brother's memorial service, so will get it repaired when we get back.

It seemed only reasonable since the oven is "off limits" that the Almond Twist from Trader Joe's should come home with me.  Getting ready to have a piece with a nice cup of coffee now.

I guess the birds have dropped seeds in the top of the Christmas cactus planter as now I have a double duty plant.  This cactus is very old, and showing it's age, but continues to sprout blooms every year.  As I mentioned in an earlier blog, it was Don's mother's and has been passed down to us.

Couple more errands and a doctors appointment and that should take care of Wednesday.  What are you  up to today?

  1. I love your oven. It has charm!

I've had a hard time getting motivated today! It's beautiful and sunny and the birds have been entertaining me in the feeder. Got some lovely shots of them. We're having leftovers for dinner, so I don't even have to cook. LAZY! haha. I am doing laundry, though.

I want a piece of that yummy almond twist!

I ran errands all morning and will probably have to make a run to the grocers later. SO wish we had a Trader Joe's here. xo Diana

    1. Bonnie, it's as old as the plant I think. Very weather beaten. Just the kind you like and would turn into something lovely for your home. Wish I had that talent.

  6. We had to replace our igniter in our oven not long ago too. It wasn't very expensive and my husband looked up how to do it online! Your cactus plant looks gorgeous with the extra flowers in the middle.

    1. I'm laughing because it's been a motto around our house for years..."My dearest is a great preacher, but don't give him tools." nuff said. haha

  7. Those "windows" we are given are so frustrating! It even bad when you don't plan anything and you are the very first stop. Then you lost the day for nothing!! At least you made wise use of your time!

    XO,

  8. Your almond twist looks wonderful! Sounds good with a cup of coffee. :) I love Trader Joe's! Though we do not have them where we live. I love their grocery bags and try and get the new one that comes out every year.
Today I spent a good part of the day with a dr. apt for my knee. Looks like surgery coming up.
    Bless you!

    1. Oh sorry to hear about your knee. I have so many friends that have had knee surgery. Not fun, but necessary.
I have a lot of the Trader Joe bags. Use them for more than groceries.
      Sending hugs and prayers

  9. Hi Wanda - here from Betsy's blog. Just wanted you to know that I didn't think you were criticizing at all. I just feel for the mousies and always hope their demise is quick! But I know what a nuisance they can be. We used to have to scour my girlfriend's cottage every May because of the mess they left over the winter.

I like your "bonus" plant in with the Christmas cactus. Maybe it was its gift to itself. Ha! The twist looks yummy too. I'm hungry now.

    1. Oh Suz.. Wish I hadn't even said anything. But it's so sweet of you to come by and tell me that. What strikes me funny now, is I have a cute collection of ceramic mice...Does that make me a hypocrite...HaHa. I hope you'll come see me again. I will come and visit you.

I have been thinking about starting one at some point. I will try and visit you regularly... I enjoy your blog. Must try some of your recipes! Enjoy your Thursday.
