SPRING TIME MONDAY

My friend, Karen C. made me this beautiful Spring quilt.  It just sings out Spring with the colors and straw hats.  I have it spread on the back of the couch so I can enjoy it.

With spring hats on my mind I decided to hang my straw hat on the wall above my Spring hat boxes and vase of flowers in the bedroom.

Munching on carrots.  Sometimes they are so hard they I have trouble eating them, so this morning, after boiling some eggs, I put the carrots in the hot water and it didn't cook through, but just enough to make them easy to eat.

The thrift store is next to the pet store where I get my bird seed, (which I needed - unhappy birds) so I stopped in for just a minute and saw these measuring spoons that look so "old" I couldn't resist for 50 cents.  Don't know why I'm drawn to measuring spoons, but have several sets, but mine are all plastic, and not old fashion by any means.  These look like they could have been my great grandmothers.  So I smiled, spent 50 cents and brought them home.

Started a new chapter in my Prayer Journal beginning with Holy Week.  I'm touched how often us blog friends pray for and encourage each other.  I know I appreciate it, and so happy if someone makes a request for me to share in that way.

The oven is now working, and the cookies look like cookies are suppose to look....not like hockey pucks...HaHa.

Well that's my Monday ~ What about yours?

  1. I love the measuring spoons. My mother had a set just like those! Old is just better. haha....as I age, I say that all the time!

Your cookies sure look delicious! The quilt is beautiful, too!

I gathered 50 things into a thrift store box as part of my continuing scaling back and uncluttering. That's always fun to do!

I was snacking on carrots today, too! Great minds and all! ;)

    1. Yes you are...First!!! Well then you understand why I could not leave without those measuring spoons. I love them.
I need to get another box ready for the thrift store too. Always feels good to have more room and pass some good things to others.

  2. What a sweet post. I need to get out my prayer journal. It is becoming dusty and I am ashamed. Of course, I pray all the time, but not like recording prayers and seeing God answer. Thanks for the reminder. Yes, I want the cookies, but my doctor is saying no so I'm trying to stay about from the sweet. Soooo hard.

    1. Journaling is something I've done for years and years. It started with a little diary when I was in Jr. High. Now most of my journals are Prayer Journals as I get distracted when I pray if I don't WRITE them down.
I've already given away 90% of the cookies. Neighbors, postman, and some little baskets I'm making for friends. I'm fasting sweets this week, so I wont be having one.

  6. Sounds like you've had a busy day. I didn't do much, took Granddaughter to school, picked up Toast Sticks from Wendy's for Abe and me for our breakfast, then ran to post-office and picked up a bag of ice on my way back home. Played on the computer, then lunch time. Then off again to pick up Granddaughter. Came home, dozed for about 15 mins., started the meat for supper/dinner, peeled some potatoes, called my Mom, then by 5:30 supper was on the table. Dishes are now done. Waiting for Dancing With The Stars, comes on at 8 and is over at 10. I thought I was going to doctor tomorrow, but our daughter said, no Mom, according to card you stuck on the frig, that's Wed. morning. LOL

Love your Spring decorations. Around here with the cat, he investigates to many things when they look different, so I don't set too many things around. He loves to bat them with his paw and watch them fall onto the floor.

Cookies look so good. Tomorrow I have to cook some eggs to pickle them for Easter dinner. I usually try to buy them several weeks ahead so they aren't so fresh and will peel easier, but this time I didn't do that.

If I don't get back, before Easter, here's hoping you all have a very Happy one.

Boy, older eggs do peel a lot better than the fresh one. I'm going to boil my Easter eggs tomorrow.

Your Monday sounds like it was lovely. I have been getting over a cold so I took it easy this morning and then I cleaned the house this afternoon - nothing too exciting :)

Enjoy the remainder of your week! Hugs!

  10. Hi Wanda, I use PicMonkey for my collages. You have to pick the option called square deal and it will give you the 4-square layout. Can't go wrong with .50 cents for measuring spoons. Mine are plastic, too, though a friend did give me a nice stainless set for my birthday. I just keep forgetting to use them. Have a great day. Tammy

  11. P.S. when you click on that three square emblem it will give you other options for layouts :)

  13. I remember using measuring spoons like that in Home Ec class in Jr High School. I always did it wrong, If it was a power or something granulated I would put in a heaping tablespoon or teaspoon. I either had to much sugar or to much salt. I did much better when it came to making an apron with a sewing machine. I dont think I've touched a measuring spoon or sewing machine since. Bad me.

    1. You had that class too. I remember that apron. Not very well done. Unlike you, I guess I wear an apron more often than most, and my measuring spoons, yep...pretty much daily. But when it comes to a camera...You're the champ!
