BACK YARD AND TRADER JOES

It rained last night and everything in the back yard looked greener this morning. Can't remember the name of the little white flowers, but I like them. The hydrangea is certainly a survivor.  This is the sixth year I thought it was dead, and then boom...here it is again sprouting new leaves.  I've posted pictures of my "rock" succulent before, but like every year...it looks like a rock all year long, and then comes Easter..and one tiny yellow sunburst flower comes out of the middle of the rock.  I call it my Resurrection Rock, as on Easter morning ~ The Rose of Sharon came forth from the rock (tomb).  I will post another picture when the flower breaks through.

A trip to Trader Joe's always makes me happy.  Today I picked up a bouquet of tiger lilies and the pink one is open and beautiful.  The yellow ones will open soon.  A nice touch to for Easter.  You can see where I put my gift from Dante.

I love Pumpkin Flax Granola.  Costco carries it during the Fall, but Trader Joe's carries it all year long.  They also have dog treats for $1.99 where the grocery store wants $2.49.  I decided to use the little pewter bowl I got at the thrift store yesterday to hold my kitchen sponges.  I think it looks nice with the stainless steel sink.

What's are you doing this Wednesday?

  1. It is wonderful to see green/flowers in your photos! I see Dante's gift; how sweet. I will have to try the pumpkin flax. I see you picked up some treats for Mollie, too. The pewter bowl looks great on your sink. I love re-purposing my finds! Very warm in GA and we have our windows open. So nice to stop and visit. God bless your evening.

    1. This time of year...green is my favorite color. I like to mix the pumpkin flax in cereal, in cookies, on top of ice cream. Good stuff.

How nice to have windows open...

  2. Aren't the first blooms exciting? So pretty! And so are your lilies. I bought some Easter lilies last week and they slowly opened over several days. What a treat!

I love Trader Joe's. I try to stop when I'm in that area. So many tempting new things to try! :)

    1. Yes, I have an iris ready to open....can't wait. When my dearests mother passed away, we dug up her iris and divided the bulbs among the grandkids, and I took some too. So when the iris bloom in all our yards..we say it's Grandma Frankie's Iris.

  4. I like your rock succulent, they are fascinating, and how good it is your Resurrection Rock with a bloom at Easter. Today I exercised in a pool and on a recumbent bike. I shopped at TJs yesterday, they have many goodies sold only there.

    1. I think they are around the country but not in every state. We have a lot of them in Southern CA. Lot's of specialty cheeses, breads, and organic foods.

  9. Some laundry, but not much of anything else. My lower back is still painful. Especially when I try sweeping with either the sweeper or the broom. Other wise all is well here in Ohio. Yesterday was a beautiful day, sun shined all day. Today it's rainy.

  12. I love the hydrangeas... their leaves are so big and beautiful even when they are not flowering. I spent the morning applying frisket to my drawing for an upcoming class with Soon Y. Warren next week! Yay! Then, back to cleaning and getting this little weekender ready to put on the market. Grrr... 1. Oh I really need another art class. In fact I'm back with Creative Tuesday, and the theme this time is "Nursery Rhyme"...Instead of a quick cartoon...I'm giving my best try to something a little more serious. Can't tell you which rhyme...might give it away....Next Tuesday.

  13. Those rock succulents amaze me. It's like they have a sense of humor and enjoy shocking people with a bit of beauty in their blooms! haha.

I love Trader Joe's, too! Mine is about 40 minutes away and not on my way to anything else, so I don't get there very often. But I do make my trips worthwhile. I never leave there without a plant or flowers, either. I'm going to get that pumpkin flax granola. That sounds really yummy! The Mister loves to snack of that kind of thing in the evening. :)

    1. Very well said. A succulent with a sense of humor.

There are so many other things at TJ that I love, but that would take up too many posts...HaHa.

The Mister will love the granola...when you first open it there are several "big" chunks...I grab those first before putting it in the canister. HaHa
