THIS AND THAT

We have a very small kitchen, but the window frame mirror above the stove really brings in more light and makes the room appear much larger.  It gets really grimy being above the stove, and hard to reach, but today my dearest took the time and effort to clean it for me.  What a difference.  Thanks Honey!!!

In fact, we did a lot of house cleaning today.  The fresh flowers I bought last week served their purpose but had to be thrown out today.  I decided to bring in a pretty succulent I had in the back yard and I think it looks nice on the coffee table.  Freddie seems to like it. HaHa.

After cleaning the house, I decided to make homemade vegetable beef soup for dinner.  It was rather chilly today so it was the perfect dinner.  Added some garlic bread and it was easy clean up too.  Putting on a pot of Decaf, and then I'm going to enjoy my new Country Sampler magazine.

I love a clean house.  With my dearest helping, we got it done in half the time.

  1. The mirror is a great idea for bringing in light and the illusion of space. It is a good feeling to get the house cleaned, a meal cooked and to enjoy free time to savor a new magazine. You are the 2nd blog friend I have visited with a new Country Sampler. Love that magazine!

    1. I find it full of ideas. Sometimes I have something I put away or in a different spot, and see what they have done with it, and walla...I have a new decoration without spending a dime.

  2. I love the mirror. I've been hoping to find one like that to put over the cabinet where my window and star are. I love mirrors because they do make the space look bigger. I don't clean house when it's messy. This rain has lingered for days now. I guess if I had snow all the time I'd never have a clean house. I can enjoy the magazine with or without a clean house. hee.hee.

    1. In our old parsonage up North, before we retired, I had that mirror hanging over our bed and it looked nice there too. It was actually a friend that had the old window frame, put the mirror on and painted it. I really love it.

  4. That soup looks delicious!! Mirrors are amazing! I have a lot of them! However, I decided AGAINST putting mirrored closet doors in the hall. I got to thinking it would mostly reflect the bathroom across from them! Going for Plan B - I will PAINT the doors to match the hall walls! Just saved myself $500!!

    1. The soup was good. Having the leftovers for lunch today. I have two smaller window mirrors in my "little" bathroom, and it works to see the back of my hair when putting in my hot rollers.
What are you going to do with that $500 you saved..HaHa

  6. Sweet husband to help clean that mirror. Probably hard to reach behind the stove, too.
That Freddie. Do you think it break up the day for him between back rubs, enjoying the cactus, and maybe reading the cover of the magazine beside him? And I bet he wishes for a taste of the delicious looking soup too.

  9. I love that mirror. I have an old house built in the 50s and it would look great in it. I would just have to find a spot. And that soup....YUM. I may need to get soup and 1/2 sandwich for lunch today.

  11. Boy, that soup looks delicious.
We have such a gray day today and apparently we had some rain during the night.
Not enough to fill the lakes or enough snowfall in the mountains.
At least our lawn and trees got a drink.
    Thankful for that.
