CREATIVE TUESDAY ~ "MOVING"

(Watercolor and Sharpie)

The theme for this week for Creative Tuesday is "MOVING".  Perhaps I've gone out on a limb, but for the life of me, when I saw the theme, I remember raising four children and the biggest MOVE was from the Potty Chair to the Big Toilet!!!  Now is that moving, or what!!

We just got home from welcoming a new grandchild into our family, a little boy named Tristan, with kids on my mind and memories of my own so vivid,  please bare with me if I've stretched this theme a little.  I do love painting children!  Hope this brought a smile of a memory of yours.

CORN AND OTHER THINGS

When we got home, after being gone almost a month, some corn from the birdseed must have falling behind the spider plant in the big pot and sprouted!  Corn?  Yes it's corn.  Who knows if it will grow and I might get an ear!  I took out the Spider plant and think I'll plant some onions or carrots in the pot with the stalks of corn.  I may be a farmer after all.  HaHa

What do you corn growers think.  Does it have a chance?

Browsing in a little Thrift Shop in Yreka, I saw this old wooden napkin holder, and as Betsy would say, "It jumped into my cart, so I had to bring it home."  I love that you can pull out one napkin without all the rest wanting to follow.

In our two night stay with my blog friend Sue and her hubby Dave, we enjoyed their harvest of fresh plums, and they sent home a box.  Yesterday after eating some fresh, I got 11 jars of Plum Jelly.  Had some on my toast this morning and was pleased for two reasons.  It set up beautifully, and it tasted marvelous.  When we stayed with Don's cousin in Bakersfield, they gave me a bag of apricots just picked that day.  If I can stop eating them fresh, I'll make a few jars of my favorite Apricot/Pineapple Jam next week.

Looking forward to Church tomorrow.  We miss a lot of Sunday's on this trip.  What's on your schedule for this weekend?

THREE LITTLE POTS

Last year I bought these three little pots at the Thrift Store, thinking I would use them for Easter.  Put them in the garage and forgot about them when Easter rolled around.  When we were in Grants Pass at Jill's MIL I saw she had cute little pots and containers with succulents, rocks, driftwood and shells.  They looked so darling.  I immediately thought of the little pots I had been saving, and determined to do something with them when I got home.

This morning I took cuttings from my succulents, and found some rocks, shells and small driftwood, and began making my little pots.

One of them sits in the Bathroom and matches the shades of blue.  The bottom left picture is one with driftwood sitting on the coffee table and the last one on the nesting table by the corner window in the living room.  They make me smile.  Now I will be on the lookout for cute little containers to make some to give away.  (Click to enlarge to see some of the details)

UNPACKED AND POOPED ~ SWF

We made it home this afternoon after being gone since June 7th.  What a trip!  Instead of posting dirty laundry, suitcases and a mountain of things to put away, I wanted to remember the rural scenes when my brother took the back roads home from Yreka.  Just lovely.

Barns and houses.  Green fields, blue sky filled with clouds.  It was like thumbing through a travel magazine.

A few storm clouds coming in, so we stayed an extra night with my brother and SIL.

What a contrast from busy city life.  Even a small town like Sunland where we live.

My new header is this little Shasta Church and Parsonage.  I couldn't help but put myself there in another lifetime.  Don preaching at the little Country Church, and me busy baking in the little kitchen in the parsonage for a potluck that night.  It was something out of a story book.

Can't tell you how good it is to be home.  Talked to Jill this morning, and Tristan is already up to 8 lbs 4 oz.  Gotta get that Skype hooked up!!!

These are such beautiful skies, I'll make this my Sky Watch Friday contribution too.  To see other lovely skies, just click on the SWF badge on my sidebar.

HEADING HOME

It's a beautiful drive, but heading home is so hard.  Leaving little Tristan behind and knowing I won't see him in person for a while.  However, with Skype, I will get to see him often, and watch how he grows.

He's already looking around, so alert, so intelligent.  Must be a family thing, haha.  While he slept I continued to knit, and when he woke up read him his first story book.  I've been reading Psalm 139 and marveling again at Gods creation.  "For you created my inmost being.  You knit me together in my mother's womb...I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. You works are wonderful.  I know that full well."

As I sat knitting, I thought of how my friend Tanna creates marvelous things with her yard and knitting needles.  Intricate patterns that are breath taking...and then looking at our little Tristan, and seeing the intricate patterns of his little face, the tiny fingers, all ten perfect toes.  We are so blessed with all our wonderful grandchildren and Tristan is the icing on the cake.

What better way to celebrate 52 years of marriage with the gift of a darling grandson.  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, HONEY.  You are still the love of my life.

FRESH RASPBERRIES FROM THE GARDEN

One thing I love about Oregon is the fresh raspberries.  Jaya picked two bowls and after we had our fill of fresh ones, I made raspberry muffins with crumble topping.

Jill and Jaya are such good parents, I had time to do some baking while baby slept.  Tristan is adorable and we love him so dearly and will hate to head for home.  We have done some big time Grandma and Grandpa bonding, and hope we can see him often on Skype.

My new header is looking out of Jill's kitchen window at the wild Foxgloves and forest.

NEW DADDY ON FATHER'S DAY

What a blessing to hold your brand new baby on your First Father's Day!  Tristan is an angel wrapped in human skin.

Grandma loving on Tristan.  What a healthy and beautiful little boy.  Our prayers have been answered as baby and mommy are doing great.  He came into the world at 7lbs 14oz and looks, I think, like his dad, Jaya but he just might have that dark red hair of Jill.  (And grandma before it turned grey. HaHa).

Thanks for all your prayers and wishes of love and congratulations.  Jill will be released Friday and then we'll get to love on Tristan for a couple of weeks...Yeah!!

CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN

Grand baby Number 12 will come into the World on June 12th.  So Grandma and Grandpa are taking a trip to Oregon to be there when he or she brightens the world and our lives.

I can't believe how clear this sonogram is.  What a precious profile.  Our daughter Jill and her husband want to be surprised, so we don't know if we will be welcoming in a little girl or boy, but we will be there to complete a dozen grandchildren.   We are so blessed and so happy to be a part of this miracle.  Plan on staying to help Jill with the baby, and get some bonding time myself since we live a distant, and I won't have that opportunity for every day or weekly visits.

We are taking the laptop, so hopefully can post some pictures after the birth on June 12th.  Until then, have a nice weekend.

ABC WEDNESDAY ~ LETTER "U"

The letter "U" is for "UNFURGETTABLES".  We walked through the Craft Fair in Montrose CA, Sunday after Church and found a booth called "Unfurgettables".    We have friends with a Chihuahua and got them a note pad and pencil with a watercolor painting of a Chihuahua.  Know they will get a kick out of this.

The picture of the bag is how they market their dog painting, including "foot print" tissue paper.  I thought this would be a UNIQUE way to USE the letter "U".

CREATIVE TUESDAY ~ "SWEETS"

The theme for Creative Tuesday this time is "SWEETS".  I only have to go to my kitchen to find an answer to this theme.
I looked at the cookie jar on the table and only two cookies were left.  The little sign was given to me by one of my grandchildren and stays close to the cookie jar.

So the model for this painting was sitting on the kitchen table.  These are Peanut Butter, but decided to fill the painted cookie jar with lots of different kinds.  Hope your sweet tooth is satisfied!  HaHa.
