My first attempt to Crochet was a complete failure. I just couldn't get my brain, fingers and yarn to work at the same time. I was lamenting to Elizabeth my failure and that I would stick to knitting as I found my memory of knitting years ago came back to me.
Elizabeth told me she'd show me how to hold the hook and thread, and sure enough, today we had our first lesson, and I now I know I wasn't holding my thread correct and that was my main problem. So I will be practicing this week, and get my next lesson next week when I visit her.
In her day, she did beautiful crocheting of all kinds, including lovely clothes on the dolls she made. I'm so thrilled to have her for a friend, and now a teacher. Her hands won't let her do much now, but she can do enough to teach me, and that fun for both of us.
