"Jesus never sends a man ahead alone.  He blazes a clear way through every thicket and woods, and then softly calls, "Follow me.  Lets go on together, you and I."  He has been everywhere we are called to go.  His feet have trodden down smooth a path through every experience that comes to us.  He knows each road, and knows it well:  the valley road of disappointment with its dark shadows; the steep path of temptation down through the rocky ravines and slippery gullies;  the narrow path of pain, with brambly thorn bushes so close on each side, with their slash and sting;  the dizzy road along the heights of victory; the old beaten road of commonplace daily routine.  Every path he had trodden and glorified and will walk anew with each of us.  The only safe way to travel is with Him alongside and in control."
~~Dr. Samuel Dickey Gordon (1859-1936)
Is it not a wonderful thing to know, we don't walk this old World alone.  Not one step if we will just be willing to "Follow" and not demand "Control" of our own lives.  There is no safer place that in HIS FOOTSTEPS.
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Today I'm choosing to share the "SKY" through the reflections of water.  These three pictures were taken at our local Descanso Gardens and give the sky a look through the eyes of water.

Here the SKY is swirling around the baby ducks as Mom looks on.

Here the fish have a first hand look at the SKY above them.  A little different take on SKY WATCH FRIDAY.  Hope you enjoyed seeing the sky from a different perspective.  Have a great weekend, and check out all the other skies by clicking on the SWF Badge on my sidebar.

The letter "G" is for "GRANDSONS GROWING" up!
This picture of me with Kaleb and Elijah was taken about 16 years ago.  They were darling little boys, and I was a younger looking Grandma (who still had red hair ~ haha)
This picture of me and Kaleb was taken a few weeks ago before he left for College in Illinois.  It's had to believe I held him on my lap and read him stories.  Now he's off to college on a Football Scholarship.  Where does the time go....they do GROW up and my hair turns gray. It's called Life!

Elijah is a Senior and enjoys his sport, Water Polo and these two grandsons are such a blessing to Don and me, and have proven their integrity and character.  And these are just two of our dozen grandchildren and ALL of them are GROWING UP!!

The theme is "SEPTEMBER" for this weeks Creative Tuesday.  I immediately think of two things with September.  Fresh Apple Pie, and some homemade Apple Sauce, and colorful Maple leaves falling.  My contributions this week will be a  simple watercolor of each!

I really like the way the leaves turned out with the many colors, and also some of the hard edges I captured that hard (I think) in watercolors.  Both small painting (card size) have the splash of paint background that I love to add.

Just as your car's filters need periodic  changing to keep your car running smooth, our liver is our bodies human filter.  Periodically, it also needs a good cleaning.  The first two weeks of August, I did just this with the FAT FLUSH detox diet.  Thus the letter "F" this week is for FAT FLUSH.
During the two weeks you give up coffee, tea, salt, pepper, sugar and all carbs and dairy products.  You replace your normal liquids with a mix of unsweetened, undiluted cranberry juice and water.  64 oz a day.  One cup of hot lemon juice (1/2 lemon to Cup of water).
Make your liver happy!

You have a daily menu of lean meat, veggies, fruits.  You are never hungry as you get three healthy meals, meals a day plus fruit snacks during the day.

The result of my 2 week detox was feeling great (once I got over my caffeine headache) and lost 10 pounds with out feeling hungry once.

I plan to do this twice a year.  Then slowly adding back in the things you've given up to maintain the weight loss.

Don and I attended a family wedding at Westmont College Chapel Lawn Saturday.  It was such a beautiful and refreshing wedding.  Totally Christ centered as the couple shared their love for each other and Jesus Christ in their lives, and how He is the foundation of there love and life together.  It was very touching.  The only music was the couple in the top photo, students at the college singing beautiful love songs and hymns.
The Brides father seen walking her down the aisle gave a remarkable toast at the reception.  Don and I just said there basking in the beauty and love surrounding us.  Wedding like this always make me thank for my dearest and the memories we made since our wedding day so many years ago.
Cutting the cake is always a lot of fun, and they did it with fun and style without covering each others faces with frosting.  All in all, it was a VERY HAPPY DAY.

Congratulations Matt and Sarah.

The letter "E" is for "EGG"
Do your eggs talk to you?  Mine do.  "See what happened when you put me in "hot water", I cracked and my eyes popped out.  Then you had the audacity to put a smile on my face.  Have you ever been put in boiling water. . .your eyes would pop out too."

Saturday I had so much fun helping my good friend, Valerie's three daughters personalize and decorate their new backpacks for school.  They were given the backpacks by my friend, Linda but they were very plain, and you know how little girls like decorations and color so Linda invited me over to see I could draw some outlines they could color in.

We ask them what each wanted me to draw on their backpack and as you can see, we got a butterfly  with flowers, a horse named Felix, and an apple tree full of ripe apples.

I did the outline.  The girls with permanent markers and some paint for fabric filled in the color.  With a small amount of help and guidance, I think they did an excellent job.  You can see from the smiles they were so please with their "Newly Decorated Backpacks".

One of the most feared; but absolutely magnificent in its majestic and powerful presence is the bear.  No one wants to meet one in the FOREST, especially the Grizzly or a Black bear with her cubs.  This bear is looking to catch a fish for her hungry cubs.
When I was a young girl, we camped every year in Yosemite National Forest.  We saw many bears from a distance, and heard them as they turned over garbage cans.   Today, those garbage bins are designed to discourage bears for coming in the camp ground.
This is watercolor using a technique of dabbing on many colors to give the fur a more mosaic look.

There is nothing unusual about a dairy cow, unless it's a dairy cow that likes to sit on her butt.  My friend Marlene's family own this Dairy.  Cows lay down, cows stand, but in all their years of running dairies, they had never seen a cow just sit down!
I think this is hilarious and maybe Bessy's milk sac just got too heavy!!  History tells us of the famous "Sitting Bull", but a sitting cow, that's pretty funny!

"Jesus has wine that no vineyard on earth could ever yield ...I would prefer one mouthful of Christ's love and one sip of His fellowship that a whole world of carnal delights ...There is not a spring which yields such sweet water s the well of God which was pierced with the soldier's spear ... For nourishment, comfort, exhilaration, and refreshment, no wine can rival the love of Jesus.  Drink deeply."
~Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892)
I love this quote by speaks to my heart.  I wanted to share it with you today for my Thoughts for Sunday.  I pray you have a wonderful Sunday, and drink deeply from the fountain of His love.
