SCARED STIFF!

On any given Sunday morning, I have my Bible, my purse, a plate of cookies, etc. and this morning wasn't any different.  I sat my purse on the wall while I put the cookies and Bible in the car and took the car window sun screens down.  Don had his hands full too, putting his book bag in the trunk.

I NEVER put my purse on the wall, but because the cookies were on a large pottery plate that was rather heavy, I sat my purse down.

We get to Church, I put the cookies on the snack table, and realize I have my Bible and sweater, and NO PURSE!  I went quickly to the car, NO PURSE, and realized I had not picked it up from the wall.

God is good, as my neighbor and his son went to Sunday School with us, and he called his wife, and she went out and "miracle of miracles" 30 minutes later, it was still on the wall.  So she was able to save the day!  You know, ladies....your LIFE  is in your purse.  Wallet, phone, camera, etc, etc, etc.....I am so thanking God made my purse invisible until my sweet neighbor could get it.

When was the last time you were SCARED STIFF!

WONDERFUL TRIP AND VISIT

Back home safe and sound and thanks for all the prayers for my brother and our sister trip to see him.  While we were there we visited the Farmer's Market, but the vegetables in the basket are from Hal and Becky's garden.  She made a veggie casserole that was so delicious.

I thought it would be fun for you to see little Wanda and her big sister, Donna when we were children.  You can see how happy we are to be with our little brother.  He's very thin after his illness and surgery, but making a good recovery.  He has an appointment Monday, to get the final results from the oncologist and will find out the details of what they found, and what kind of Chemo treatment he will have to have.  Please say prayers that it will be minimal and with good results.

In the bottom right picture, my sister is showing Hal some pictures of her new great grandson.

These kinds of reunions are priceless.

SISTER TRIP

Monday morning I'll be getting on the Amtrak Coach Bus for the fist leg of my trip.  The bus will take me to Bakersfield where I will get on the train and head up North where my sister will pick me up.  Will spend the night, and then we will leave early by car for the final leg of the trip to visit my brother and his wife just north of Mt. Shasta.

It's been a long time since my sister and I have had a trip like this and time to really visit.  I'm so looking forward to it.  Since we were just at my brother's a few weeks ago with our trip to Oregon it will be great to see him now that his surgery is behind him, and he's well on the road to full recovery.  There is just the three of us, and it's been many years since all three of us have been together.

I won't have a computer this trip so will have to catch up when I get home on Friday.

Say a prayer for safe journey's for me and my sis.

READY FOR FOOTBALL NIGHT

Yesterday I cooked the chicken breasts in the large crock pot all day, and last night pulled it all apart and had enough to fill my little crock pot which I will use to heat it up for tonight's dinner before the game.

I made the "Lazy Girl Cobbler" and it looks pretty good and smells wonderful.  Here is the simple recipe.

2 cans of fruit pie filling
(I used peach)
1 yellow cake mix
2 cubes of butter

Place fruit in baking dish
Sprinkle cake mix evenly over the top
Cut butter into slices and place evenly over cake mix.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour
(Mine was golden brown in 50 minutes)

Tonight the pulled pork will go into sandwiches on French Rolls or Crescent Rolls and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the cobbler.

Go, Lancers...play hard, no injuries, and win the game!! We'll be watching and rooting!

PULLED CHICKEN??

Most of us have had barbecued pulled pork.  Well last week I had a couple of chicken breasts so decided to cook them in the my "little" crock pot with some BBQ sauce.  It cooked all day and became so tender it just "pulled apart".  It was delicious!

Because we are going to Kaleb's football game tomorrow night, I decided to use my "big" crock pot and make enough to take down for dinner and have "BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwiches.

I think I'll take both sandwich rolls and crescent rolls for a choice.

I also found a recipe for a "Lazy Girl Cobbler" and will make a Peach Cobbler tomorrow morning to take for dessert.

Aren't Crock Pots the Best and quick and easy recipes?

TO EAT, OR NOT TO EAT....

I've been staring at the last piece of sour cream cinnamon coffee cake for an hour.  Don is having lunch with a friend... when he leaves, I'm making a pot of coffee and going to get rid of that last little piece.  Know I shouldn't but, hey, I can work it off tomorrow at the "Y", right?

If there was more, I'd invite you, but I will enjoy it for you.   Hope you're having a good day.  It's Wednesday ~ Have some dessert!

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

It's no secret I'm a "Country Music" fan.  But I'm selective... I like the old guys, like Willie and Waylon and Johnny and Hank.  Wonder if it could be we're in the same age bracket. HaHa.  Well, Willie is famous for "On the Road Again" and that's were I'm heading once more..

This is the year of travel.  I'm not complaining, I'm just saying I've never traveled this much in one year and it's not over yet!  We had a week in Tahoe in June, a wonderful trip to Oregon in August and now my sister and I are going to take a "Sister Trip" and drive up and see our brother, Hal, who is recovering from a difficult surgery.

The last trip of the year will be to Idaho to visiting cousins.  Then begins...Don's 75th Birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  What a year.

WANDA'S WATERCOLOR CARDS

My love affair with watercolor started when I received my first little box of watercolors.  I never wanted color crayons again.  As long as I can remember, the feel of paint working it's magic on paper excited me.  I've always loved to send and receive cards. So I combined my two loves, watercolors and cards.  It's been a passion ever since.

I've been painting greeting cards for many years, and this is a Brochure I had before retiring to sharing my cards, and telling a little story about my Watercolor journey.  Back then life, work, kids, church made my watercolor take a seat on the back burner.

Now that I'm retired, I have added many new cards to my collection, and with time and a few adult watercolor classes, I think the collection I have now is more colorful and a bigger variety.

I'm in the process of updating my brochure with my new variety, and then those interested in my cards will have a current collection to view and choose from.

I so appreciate Terra and Tanna for being great friends and sharing my cards on their blogs.  Because of that I've been able to sell a few, and hope to enlarge this endeavor in the future.

In fact, today, Terra is sharing on her blog some of the cards she purchased last week.  Thanks so much Terra.

Here are a few of my new ones.

If you would be interested in getting one of my new brochures, mention it in your comment. I hope to have them ready before the holidays.

FAMILY TIES

We are trying to attend all of Kaleb's football games, since he's a Senior and his last year to play and he is the starting QB so it makes for exciting games.  We had a good turn out of family at his last game in Big Bear.  From left to right.  Grandpa Slaven, Grandma, our son Myk, Grandpa Lunde (Chelenne's Dad) Chelenne and their other son, Elijah.

The Grandpa's having a conversation with Kaleb after the game.

Myk has a store that sells his Rubber Band Guns in Big Bear, and was able to deliver an order and visit with the owner, Gladys.  I had to laugh at a sign she had hanging in her store. "If you Steal, God will see you, and Gladys might!"

Since I post a lot of pictures of Kaleb, I wanted to share another picture of Elijah.  He is on the Water Polo Team, but because of the schedule of there games, Grandpa and I haven't been able to see him play.  I liked this picture with the flag in the background.  Love these boys!

MY FOOTBALL BRACELET

The daughter of my heart, Chelenne, Kaleb's mom brought me a darling "Football Bracelet" to wear to the Football games.  Isn't that cute.  I just love it.

Saturday afternoon, they played a hard fought game at lovely Big Bear Lake.   It took a couple of hours to get there, but oh how beautiful the drive.

The sky was filled with huge puffy clouds all shapes...The threat of rain was there, but didn't sprinkle until after the game.

Safe trip home for all the family that attending the game.  Guess you know where me and Grandpa will be every game!

YELLOW HEADED BLACK BIRDS

When we were at my brothers home on our trip, one evening a flock of yellow headed black birds stopped by to feed on their way to Washington.

My brother said they come through every year from Mexico.  I've never seen any birds like it.  Saw many new and wonderful things on this trip.

For those of you who have prayed for my brother's surgery.  After a difficult surgery, he is doing great and went home today after a week in the hospital.

Friday Night Football

Last night we were able to watch our Grandson, Kaleb play the first football game of the season.  He is a Senior and the Quarter Back and one of the Captain's of the team.

It was a great game, Kaleb did us proud with many completed passes, ran the ball well for a touchdown and his team won the game by a large margin.

Again, this is one of the reasons we moved to Southern CA when we retired.  So we could participate in a personal way our kids and grand kids lives.

Go Kaleb, and Sunny Hill's' High School!
