TREE TRIMMING (Not Christmas) and FRUITCAKE

My dearest decided to enjoy the lovely sunshine and trim some limbs that were hanging down lower that he liked.  I am really nervous when he gets on a ladder.  I'm sure he didn't like my observation as I told him I really didn't want to spend Christmas in the hospital visit him from falling off a ladder.  He did a great job, and the tree does look a lot better.

Molly doesn't get to visit the front yard, since it's not fenced, but I put her on a long leash and let her supervise Don's tree trimming!  She was groomed this week, and looks so snowy white.

Meanwhile in the Kitchen, Ms. Santa was busy making Fruitcake.  The recipe said two loaves.  They didn't say the size of boxcars!!

I had to use the biggest bowl I had to accommodate all the ingredients!  Talk about a ton of fruit and nuts!  I couldn't help licking my fingers from time to time. Yummy!

My little Gingerbread Man sat quietly laughing from the shelf as I scurry around looking for more loaf pans.  It must have been a sight!

Can you believe I ended up with seven loaves of fruitcake.  Three medium and four small.  I will be eating fruitcake for many month to come.  I think some will be gifts whether they like it or not . HaHa.  They are baking in the oven as I type, and I'll let you know it they taste as good as they look!

What was your day like?

    1. The recipe called for waxed paper, but I prefer parchment paper at lot better. Yes easy removal is great.

    1. Oh I already enjoyed some of your auction pictues.

I'm so much farther ahead in my baking than I even have been. Several pumpkin breads and bags of cow girl cookies are labled and in my neighbors freezer.

Love your little gingerbread man too.

Kind of rummy dummy to be honest. We got home late from our trip to Disneyland and was I ever pooped.
It was a really hard workout for my gimpy knee. I did very well but I am paying for it today.
So I sat and caught up on the computer, continued to make my photo notecards for gifts that I have to have ready for next saturday and went grocery shopping.
Not much but I do feel much better tonight.
Wish we could have ventured up your way to see you but there just wasn't enough time.
We will definitely do that next time and plan for an extra day.
Have fun with your guests on Sunday.
    Miss you.

    1. Godness, you have reason to be pooped. Hoping your knee feels much better today. So glad you had such a wonderful mini vacation at DL.
Look forward to another time when you can stop by our place and visit.

Glad your hubby made it down the ladder safely.
That is a lot of fruit cake - you will enjoy that throughout the year with coffee, for sure!

  6. My hubby has a thing for clean gutter. We have lots of trees and it the fall it is a almost every day(according to him) or at least once a week job. I hate when he gets up on the ladder. And I tell him the same thing," I am not going to come see you if you land in the hospital". Doesn't seem to faze him, tho. heehee

  7. Believe it or not Abe and I both love fruitcake. Some people give it a bad name, but they just need to enjoy it and all of the fruit flavors. I also love the nut and fruit eggs at Easter, but I think I am the only one in the family that does, other then my Mother.

    1. Patty, glad you and Abe are fruitcake eaters. I saved one little loaf to nibble on before Christmas, and had a slice with my coffee this morning. So good, now I'm ready to get some shopping done!

  9. I can't believe how much this made!!! Goodness! I agree with you...I do not like my husband up in a ladder anytime of the day. Makes me a nervous wreck. We have palm trees in our yard and they are constantly needing trimmed. Sigh....

    1. Laurie ~ I think these husbands think they are supermen. And sometimes they are..HaHa.

I watched some men trimming Palm trees in Hawaii years ago, and I was so nervous for them, but they were climbing those trees like monkeys..I guess if you know what you're doing!
