THE STORY OF MY LIFE ~

"That's what I thought he said too. HaHa."   Wearing hearing aids for the past 15 years, do I ever relate to this.  It's the story of my life but the best way to deal with it is to laugh.  And I wanted us to end this year with a chuckle.

This was a card my daughter Julie sent me last year for my birthday.   I was cleaning out my desk to start the year with all the drawers organized, and found the card, and just starting laughing, and said "This I have to share with all my Blog Girlfriends"

HAPPY NEW YEAR ~
ENJOY ACCESSORIZING AND NICE SHOES....BUT A LITTLE EXERCISE AND THE RIGHT FOODS WON'T HURT EITHER!

  1. I need the hearing aids myself - it is beginning to get embarrassing saying "what" all the time! But I could also use some tips on the accessorizing. Shoes? I look for comfort there. Happy New Year, very Sweet Lady. :-)

    1. For me the hardest thing was admitting I couldn't hear. I was only 56 and my Aunt for heaven's sake was 90 and didn't wear them. But although done are perfect...it's been one of the best decisions I ever made. "What" was my response, before the expression "What?" became to popular.
      Happy New Year dear...

    2. Well, I have had a lifetime of it in one ear, as you well know; and now the other ear is going too. But I had a head start on you at lip reading! - Kris

  2. Love it. And isn't it amazing what we think we hear? Before I started wearing my hearing aids, which I should have before I actually did, I would answer the girls and they would look at me funny, then they would say, mom what do you think we said, and I would tell them and they would almost fall down laughing because what they said was completely different from the way I heard it, it rhymed but wasn't the same. I said no wonder some of the students that would come into the office in the evening when I was still working, and would have my back to the window doing something when they asked a question, I would answer then turn around and they would be giving me this strange look. LOL That's when I went to see about hearing aids. Because it was the men's voices I had the most trouble with, seems the lower tones are harder for me to hear. Hearing aids are nice, but not like your own ears. Did you and Don like that video I posted on Facebook, thought you two might enjoy it. In case I don't get back around, Happy New Year.

    1. I just realized I didn't respond to your story. I so relate with your daughters, same with me, and when I was working in an office too. Got many laughs, and not that I was trying.

I was looking for the video...I must have missed it. Did it have a name?

Happy New Year to you and all those you hold dear.

    1. Laurie ~ If my not hearing well is my only difficulty..I'm a blessed woman. There are so many folks, like yourself that deal with many many struggles. I can laugh at mine and that helps. Loving you today.

  4. Dave and I seem to be in the "what" stage with each other.
Some of our conversations are pretty funny.
This aging process is a bit wearing but at least we ARE aging, considering the alternative.
We are both feeling a little bit better today. Colds are for the birds!
Great post Wanda and great your dear Hubby for us too.

  5. Oh, that is so cute! I say we do all of the above...if we excercise and eat right, then we deserve to accessorize and buy nice shoes, too! haha.

  6. Have you ever realized that the two secret cures for every ailment -- especially old age --are eating right and exercise.

    1. Seems so simple, and yet hard to do. Since my gal bladder attacks and surgery, I have been eating right (95% of the time) and exercise 4 times a week. Trhying to make it such a habit, I do it without thinking.

  7. ha! Cute card. I don't like shoe shopping but I do like to accessorize. 7 years ago, I changed my eating habits, so for the most part, do eat healthy -- and walking is my preferred form of exercise. I did buy myself some new walking shoes when we were in Dubai a couple of weeks ago. :) Wishing you health and happiness in the new year. Tammy

    1. My eating habits were drastically changed in 2011 when I had gall bladder attacks, and couldn't eat. When I had the surgery..starting eating right and exercising...What a difference it's made.
I like shoes, but have a few comfortable favorites and just hate when they completey wear out. Have a pair of boots like that now, and I DON'T want to say goodbye to them.
