WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU CROSS A MANGO AND A BANANA??

Our next door neighbor brought me two ripe mango's.  I've never bought one, and only eaten some on a fruit platter at a Buffet.

I peeled it and it was really ripe and very mushy.  So what to do with a mushy mango, and a couple of bananas.  I experimented  and came up with the most delicious "Mango~Banana" Bread.

I also added some chopped walnuts and a little drizzle and made two loaves. Surprised my neighbor  with one!  This won't be the last time I do this.  In fact...there is one more ripe mango in the refrigerator.

Do you experiment in your kitchen??

  1. I would have put mine in the blender with a little frozen pineapple and peaches. Yum! My kind of dessert.
The Arnold Palmer sounds good. I usually buy Snapple lemon iced tea -- or what's really good is Mango Madness. I know there's a lot of sugar but I dilute all my fruit drinks to half water. And now it's peach season , absolutely favorite fruit!

    1. Chris, your idea is very healthy, but then you know I have baking in my DNA, and make a smoothie, never entered my mind...it would have been so good. Maybe I should do that with the remaining mango.

  3. I do experiment. I've found that strawberry bread isn't near as good as it sounds.

  4. We don't play with mangoes much here. My mom ate them once and went into anaphylactic shock. :(

    1. Oh my, that's terrible. This is my first time to use them in any way. So far so good, the bread is delicious and no reactions!

    4. She was on a cruise in the Caribbean and ate a few small pieces on one of the islands. Her head started to itch and she almost decided to stay in her room, but one of the other passengers saw her in the hallway and told his wife something was wrong. She came and took Mom to the ship's doctor. After sitting on a chair for a minute or two she was unable to stand up. She asked him later if she could have died and he said it was "touch and go" for a while.
